These are all severe limitations of his game. He was asked to lock down one side of the field in Oakland regardless of who the match up is. That's great and respectable. Also, you want to talk about pass attempts of the opposing team. That's fine and dandy until you face the WR1 every single snap. Eventually a team will start throwing the ball towards their #1 guy regardless who is lined up against him even Revis Island. Also, you have to look at the games in which Revis and Nnamdi played. The Raiders were very bad while he was there. They always played from behind, so if you were an NFL offense and you were sitting on a lead would you be passing or running more often? The Jets had such a woeful offense that the games were always tight. Therefore there were more reasons for the other team to throw more than the opponents against the Raiders. Sorry man Nnamdi was great but he was and never will be on Revis' level.
Sorry but Revis can't blitz for shit, he never covered the slot in his career and the Jets rarely play zone D.. dejavu on that remark.. Nnamdi gave the Raiders 7 great years and seem to run out of speed once year 8 started and he started his new career in Philly.. yes the Raiders were very bad post Gannon-Brown era but the Jets were nothing special when Revis was their for his run.. I mean damn if the colts don't bench their players with the lead and ruin their perfect season putting scrubs in like Curtis Painter the Colts win that game and the Jets miss the playoffs going 8-8 in 2009.. 2010 the jets stepped up but still should have lost to the Colts in the first round playoffs.. Caldwell calling that bone head play with less than a minute left.. if those 2 things don't happen the Jets don't make the AFC ship in 09-10.. our arguments are going to go nowhere because you're a Jets fan and im a Raiders fan, I'm not being biased just being truthful.. I have many friends that are Jet fans and I consider them the most annoying fans in the world, and they are all Revis fans.. like the majority of NYJ fans but put Revis on the other 30 teams out of NY and you won't ever hear his name again.. mark my words.. this season their will be limited Darrelle Revis coverage.. Football season will be here before you know it meaning its time to talk about the Jets and Mark Sanchez David Garrard Tim Tebow QB controversy

Everything changes when these guys who've never had money in their lives become millionaires.

Same thing happened with Kenny Britt. But Britt isn't a thug. He's just a moron who puts himself in horrible situations. Not a bad person.

McClain is a terrible human being.

This pretty much sums it up. It has less to do with Nnamdi's dominance than with the rest of your secondary's ineptitude lol. Also, Revis can play the slot. He lines up wherever the WR1 is lined. If that's the slot, then there he goes. Sorry man, but you're dead wrong on that. Also, he's light years ahead of Nnamdi in terms of tackling. Nnamdi couldn't tackle a paper bag.
Quote:
That being said, Sherman’s role isn’t warping his numbers the way Nnamdi Asomugha’s role used to distort his in Oakland. Like Sherman, Asomugha rarely tracked receivers, but unlike him, he would play the right cornerback spot almost exclusively and there was nobody else in that Oakland secondary that teams respected, so they could simply ignore him and take him out of the game. Sherman plays on the opposite side, the side of the field that quarterbacks target more frequently as right-handers, and he has a formidable secondary to back him up and ensure that there is no easy path to completions. Consequently, his target numbers remain healthy, certainly as compared to Asomugha’s in Oakland.

From 2008-10 the Oakland corner averaged 29 targets per season hidden away on the blindside. He was thrown at less than twice per game for three years. Sherman was thrown at 87 times in 2012 and Revis has averaged over 93 targets in his seasons. Though their roles are notably different, both players have seen their fair share of targets and both have spent the majority of their time locked-up in man coverage. We can evaluate their coverage in the way we could never adequately do for Asomugha in Oakland.

yea because nobody respects Charles Woodson, you forget he played with Asomugha for 2 seasons.. Teams throw to Revis and he has Cromartie on the otherside

In reality it's only 1.5. He only started 7 games in 2004. 2005 ok. Yes, but those weren't his prime years. His prime years were after he left . Revis has had Cro for 2 years and he wasn't there in 2009 arguably the best season any CB has had

In about an hour, the Jags will reveal their new uniforms. Been rumors that there will be a little a combination of teal, black, and gold helmets.

So MBF, what do you think of trading up into the #13 pick. I'd take 31, 34, and a third round pick for it. We could use extra bodies, and this would mean that we traded Revis for a 1st round pick, 2 2nd round picks, and 2 third round picks. I'd be down with that.

Or you can give us #9 & your second round pick and grab Milliner at #3, could be a great replacment for Revis

We can sure use the extra picks

lol. Nah I'm fine with our CB's. Even without Revis we had one of the best passing defenses in the league. Wilson obviously not as great as Revis played well. I want to keep 9 (draft Womack) and trade back w/ SF. That would be super. Plus w/ approximately 50 million in cap space next year, we can reboot this franchise.

They already released it. I'll post it below.

Draft is only important when the skins are picking I just want this test done so I can focus 100% on the draft!

We have around $40M-50M to work with next year too

Really hoping we can trade down though, we need more picks!

The problem is virtually everyone in the top 10 wants to trade down so if a team does trade down they aren't going to get near the package of picks teams often get for a high pick.

This is like the 2000 NBA draft so glad we aren't picking high having to fix our team.

Yup our 2014 cap number w/out this incoming draft class is about 90 million. If we cut Holmes, Harris, and Sanchez that lowers it to about 69 million . If I was Idzik I'd cut all three of them unless Holmes plays out of this world. Either way we will get out of the hole that Tanny left us in, and I'm down with that.

It's already been reported that SF wants to move down to 13 or 14 especially since they have all of those draft picks. Possibly it's as you describe if you're trying to trade into top 5, but I don't see that in the middle of the first rd.
