Big part of that reason is because...every game counts and it's a must win no matter what.

I think Jim Rome had it right. There are two season in pro sports in America that matter - NFL season and waiting for NFL season to begin. I bet most fans don't even know the NBA draft is only several days away.

Word is coming out now the police have issued No Warrants for Hernandez

Report: No warrants yet in Hernandez case

A source tells the Boston Globe there are no "arrest warrants issued currently in Odin Lloyd murder investigation."

Per reporter Wesley Lowery, that doesn't mean they won't soon be issued, but for now, Aaron Hernandez has yet to be charged with a crime. Earlier Friday, a "law enforcement source" told CBS Boston a warrant for obstruction of justice had been issued for the Patriots' tight end. Judging by the range of speculation, the local media doesn't have a terribly good grip on what law enforcement is actually planning to do in the case.

From the rumors/gossip it sounds like Hernandez wasn't directly resposible for the man's death but helped cover it up, meaning obstruction of justice and manybe some other related charges rather than murder. Though I believe obstruction of justice is still a fairly serious crime and can result in several years in prison if convicted.

You'd think they'd learn from jumping the gun on the Boston Marathon case as some organizations are being sued big time for blaming innocent people.

In my experience where there is smoke there is fire, while I think there reporting erroneously I do believe with this being the 3rd time hes now been implicated in something that it is safe to assume he is involved in some way. The problem with the media is exactly what you are saying they are not verifying there sources in this regard.

Police were at the house of Hernandez again no arrests made

Police made another visit Friday to the home of star New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, about a mile from where a body of a man was found in an industrial park earlier this week.

Two state police officers showed up at the home, in North Attleborough, Mass., at midday. They knocked on the door, were inside for about a minute and left. It was not clear whether Hernandez was at the house.

ESPN was reporting this morning that he went to his lawyers yesterday afternoon but no one has seen him since.

Remember Former 49ers RB Glen Coffee? He's An Army Paratrooper Now.

Glen Coffee's single year as a 49er may qualify as one of the strangest NFL careers. The summer after a promising 2009 rookie year, in which the third-round pick out of Alabama filled in nicely for an injured Frank Gore, Coffee up and quit. God didn't want him to play football, he said in brief and guarded interviews. There's more to life than the pursuit of money.

Later today, Coffee will graduate from the army's Airborne School at Fort Benning, Ga. He says he doesn't miss the NFL, and that serving in the military is a much better use of his gifts than playing professional football.


“I figured that if I'm able, the Lord's blessed me with an able body while I'm young, to get out there and get dirty.”

Coffee's sudden retirement during training camp in 2010 was as shocking to the 49ers as it was to fans, but he admitted his heart was never in it. He missed the South—he said he regretted leaving Alabama early, and immediately moved back to his home on the Florida Panhandle. But more than that, he just didn't seem to know what he wanted to do with his life, only that the NFL wasn't it. In a candid interview with the Sacramento Bee a year after his retirement, he decried the pro athlete mindset.


As far as the NFL goes, I have a hard time putting it like this because it sounds kind of harsh, but I feel like it ruins a lot of lives more than anything else. And that goes for people who have short careers in the NFL and long careers in the NFL. Because what happens is they see that as success. And money throughout your life has nothing to with your salvation in Christ. A lot of players get that money. And they chase that money, man, and I feel that they're really missing the true meaning of life. So I'm constantly afraid for the NFL and the players because kids growing up nowadays, they see that as the end all, be all. And that's just not the case.

Coffee drifted around for awhile. He started boxing. He got baptized, and spoke at churches. He was arrested for weapons possession. (Charges were later dropped.) He went back to Alabama to finish his degree. He played semi-pro football. But it was only after seeing Tears of the Sun, starring Bruce Willis as the leader of a squad of Navy SEALS, did he decide to join the military. He enlisted in February. After today's graduation, it's off to Fort Bragg, where Coffee hopes to become a Green Beret.

Basically it sounds like warrant is drawn up, sitting in the pocket of the investigators, and it can go at anytime -- when signed by judge.

If there are one or two other guys involved in this the police will likely get someone to flip. Hard to say what Hernandez's involvement is but if he went so far as to destroy evidence I'm guessing he was at the very least an accessory to the murder. A charge of obstruction might just be an initial charge to get the ball rolling and try to ratchet up the pressure on Hernandez.

I always feel bad for the neighbors in cases like this. The media literally camps out right outside the suspect's home for long lengths of time, disrupting life for other people who live around. I saw this in central Florida in past years during the Casey Anthony media feeding frenzy.

What is the sentencing typically like in Massachusetts for obstruction of justice charges? Although this seems like a pretty severe degree.
