The best solution i heard was they would drop 2 preseason games but add 1 more wildcard team to each conference.
This way the $$ lost by less preseason games would basically be compensated by the tv $$ all the teams share from the 2 extra playoff games.

The #1 seed would get a bye then #7 plays #2, #6 plays #3, #5 plays #4 in each conference so there would be 3 games saturday & 3 games sunday on wildcard weekend....cool.

Also the fact that when the new tv deals kick in 2014 the nfl does already have an option to sell a wildcard game to espn would seem to make this scenario even more plausible.

The Vikings did the same thing when I went to the Patriots-Vikings game in 2006. I just waited until after the preseason was done and the game wasn't sold out yet so I was able to get tickets without buying tickets to a preseason game.

I hate paying full price for preaseason games so I think that sounds like a good solution to for the teams to still get the same amount of revenue.

I think 4 Pre-Season games is about the right amount from a "trot your rookies and wannabes out there and see how they do" standpoint.

I totally agree they way overcharge and rip people off for their existence though. They should be like 1$ at the gate type games.

Agreed that 4 being right, I don't think 2 is enough.

As far as ticket prices, you guys do understand the basic principle of supply and demand don't you? As any business would they will charge as much as they can to maximize profit. If you don't think tickets are worth the price, then simply don't purchase them.

You have no Idea paying 400 extra dollars for pre season games that had no meaning sucked and was a BS policy its why I dumped my Lions tickets that and they sucked at the time.

That's how much it costs. You know exactly what you are getting. If you feel it's too much, don't buy them.

The problem is the people..like me who want to go to all 8 games get FORCED to buy the 2 pre season games when i don't want to watch a practice and pay $45 for parking and another $9 per beer. It's all about greed. Nothing more.

Of course i know what i am getting. I want to see all 8 games so i get the tix...$$ isn't the issue. It's the problem that they force you to buy them at full price...hell i would even take half price..at least i would be able to sell them

Ryan Longwell retiring as a Packer

He should had a retired as a Viking since in my opinion, Ryan played his best years as a Viking but I understand why he is retiring a Packer since he started his career as a Packer and played longer as a Packer

I wish he would retire as a Viking but I want to thank Ryan for his years as a Viking and I wish him the best in his retirement

They bundle them because they can, because people will pay the extra $$ for the pre-season games. It's not greed any more than any other company that takes advantage of consumer demand. Look at Apple and they prices they charge, not only for hardware but especially accessories.

Don't the Patriots have a waiting list? I'm sure there are plenty of others that would love your seats.

Don't get me wrong, If I was a season ticket holder I wouldn't want to buy the pre-season tickets either but it is what it is. If it weren't for the pre-season games I'm sure hardly anyone would buy them. I believe all major sports follow this practice, don't they?

What? Forcing season ticket holders to pay full price for pre-season exhibition games? None of the other leagues that I know of do. I know the Braves include the 1-2 preseason games at home for free for season ticket holders.

We buy the "package" because we want to see the regular season games AND have the option to buy playoff tickets. There is demand for tickets with huge waiting lists but no one wants to pay full price for preseason games but you must to get the regular season games.
