How does that even make sense? If injuries aren't team-based, how would drafting people from different teams have reduced the chances of them being injured?

Instead of taking a whole team's skill players, you could have went with other players from other teams. Perhaps you reduce the probability of unforeseen team problems. Putting all your eggs in the same team basket is never a good idea. Plus Jackson is old as dirt and has been fairly injury prone. Roddy was injured when you took him. They just didn't disclose the seriousness of the injury.
