I swear Whatr they doing. I thought they would sign Hakeem Nicks, then when they didn't I figured they would go for Jones. I guess they were content with one good season?? I know we will get a good wide out in the draft but we need at least one more really solid reciever for Cam

Giants signed KR Trindon Holliday, formerly of the Texans, to a one-year contract.

Holliday wasn't tendered an offer as an exclusive rights free agent by the Broncos. The soon-to-be 28-year-old is a dynamic return man but has fumbled 11 times the past two years. He averaged 8.5 yards on punt returns and 27.7 yards on kickoff returns in 2013. Holliday has four return scores in two seasons.

+1 for Giants return game. Guy is fast.

NFL Films guru Greg Cosell stated on the Ross Tucker Podcast that he believes Clemson's Sammy Watkins is the best wide receiver prospect since A.J. Green and Julio Jones came out for the 2011 draft.

"If you just look at the skill set," Cosell said, "I think you're dealing with a guy who's an explosive mover. He's a powerful mover. There's velocity to his movement. He can run over people. He's got straight-line speed. He's laterally quick. He's got run-after-the-catch strength." Watkins is also considered a pro-ready route runner. He won't get out of the top-seven picks.

I don't think Watkins will get out of the top 5.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Panthers and Seahawks are also interested in free agent Kenny Britt.

Britt is one of the top receivers left on the free-agent market, and, if healthy, he's easily the most talented of the bunch. Britt has visited the Rams and Patriots but left each team without a contract and is now on his way to talk to the Redskins. If Britt wants to be a No. 1, going to Carolina could significantly rehab his value.

Britt to Carolina I could see. This is about his last chance so we'll see if he can wise up and play ball or if he'll go down as a bad drunk.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Packers are expected to re-sign free agent James Starks to a two-year contract.

Starks visited the Steelers on Monday and reportedly had two other teams interested in him. After rushing for 493 yards and three scores on 89 carries (5.5 YPC), it's a little surprising the 28-year-old couldn't find a team to offer him a chance to compete for a bigger role. In Green Bay, he'll return as the No. 2 behind Eddie Lacy, leaving DuJuan Harris and Johnathan Franklin fighting for scraps.

Based on tape study, NFL Films' Greg Cosell believes Florida State's Kelvin Benjamin is a "slightly" better receiver prospect than Texas A&M's Mike Evans.

Cosell called Evans a "measured mover," while Benjamin is a superior athlete with more vertical burst when the ball is in the air. "I remember watching Benjamin run by Florida's corner, Loucheiz Purifoy, on a deep post -- and Purifoy can run, he's in this draft as well -- and Benjamin definitely showed a burst with the ball in the air," Cosell said. "Which is something you definitely look for when you look at vertical routes. ... You don't need to be a 4.4 guy to do that. You know Jerry Rice did that exceptionally well. And Jerry Rice was never a 4.4 guy."

Eh. With the contract he has to make the team to even count against the Salary cap, and if he makes it it's a whopping 75,000$ hit over the guy he's replacing.

He's effectively free.

It all comes down to if Orton really retires. If he doesn't, Weeden probably won't even make the team so won't cost anything.

The Panthers are drafting late enough in the first that it's going to be difficult for them to get a quality receiver. By the time they pick there will likely be 5 or 6 receivers gone. You also don't want to be too dependent on rookie receivers because it seems to be the hardest position for a rookie to come in and make an impact. I just don't understand how they didn't pick up at least 1 quality receiver in free agency.

+1 for Giants return game. Guy is fast.

Holliday is too unreliable. Last season he had 5 fumbles and 9 muffed punts, and it's not worth a roster spot for a guy that should pretty much only be used on kickoffs. The Broncos could have kept him for $1.3 million as a restricted free agent but chose not to due to his problems handling punts, which was the reason they sometimes used Welker on punt returns last season.

Holliday fumbles pretty bad but it's not something that can't be fixed. He can go either way this year but my bet is he'll do good.

Giants signed WR Mario Manningham, formerly of the 49ers, to a one-year contract.

Manningham, 28 in May, underwent a physical with the Giants on Monday, so the medical staff must have been happy with the status of his surgically-repaired left knee. After a two-year detour with the 49ers, Manningham is back with the Giants, who he spent the first four seasons of his career with. He'll compete for No. 4 receiver duties and won't be guaranteed a roster spot.

Panthers announced QB Cam Newton will be out about four months after undergoing ankle surgery Wednesday.

Four months would put him out until the start of training camp, which means he may not be in great shape at the start of the season.
