Peterson Deactivated

The Vikings have deactivated Adrian Peterson inactive for Week 2.

Peterson won't play this week after he was indicted on child abuse charges Friday. As of now, it's not clear if he'll face further discipline from Minnesota or the NFL. Matt Asiata will start in his place Sunday, with Jerick McKinnon taking over as the No. 2 back. The Vikings are also likely to active Joe Banyard from the practice squad to provide depth.

Yup just dropped Pierrre Thomas and picked up Matt Asiata, now going to start him over CJ Spiller this week. Surprised the Peterson owner didn't do it, would say at least decent chance Peterson doesn't play again this year.

I'm not fond of Asiata. Patterson's value should go up some more.

Do you want a stool to help get you off your high horse? When I was a kid (born in 1990 so I'm not old school), I acted up in public at home or church, I would get a spanking at home. It was never more than my mother's bare hand, but it sent the message. I feel that I am a better person today because of it. Don't question my mother's parent skills because she didn't raise you.

Weird, I never got physically abused by an adult as a kid and have never been in trouble in my life. But hey, if you feel being smacked around by adults somehow made you a better person good for you I guess. The kids I knew at a young age who had physically abusive parents largely turned out to be jailbirds or losers who wound up passing the beatings on to their own kids.

Again, there is a difference between abuse and a spanking/whooping. Taking a switch to a kids legs or butt isn't abuse, it is discipline. More or less a scare tactic because you are more scared of getting a swarping then actually getting it.

Taking fists, extension cords, objects, etc to a child is a different conversation. I've had friends or knew people who got abused when we were younger. There is a big difference between the two.

Breaking news wes welker reinstated nflpa approves new deal

nfl.com's ian rapoport reports the nflpa has unanimously approved the terms of a new drug policy.

The biggest changes will include testing for hgh and a higher threshold for a positive marijuana test. If finalized by sunday, wes welker and cowboys cb orlando scandrick will be immediately reinstated and available to play this week. Josh gordon's suspension is expected to be reduced to 10 games, potentially putting him on track to return in week 12.

Fair enough. I do get that there is a fine line. Just seems like Peterson crossed WAY over that line. Rather than instilling anything positive in his kid it sounds like the kid was scared to death (in a bad way) of his dad. A little spanking is one thing, leaving long-lasting physical marks on your kid is another.

I will say one thing Peterson has in his favor is that this happened in Texas. Getting someone convicted by jury of child abuse in the south isn't as easy as it would be in other parts of the country.

I saw the pictures and I've had worse on my legs and butt before. It hurts when you first get it, a burning feeling, and it goes away quick. It makes you feel terrible though and, for me anyway, hurt my feelings more than anything. Honestly, I was more scared of being threatened with a switch then getting swarped with it and it definitely made me think twice about doing shit…until I got older anyway and I would laugh it off. lol

I don't know how his relationship with the mom is but this could be a case of the mom coaching the child what to say. Not saying that is what happened but who really knows.
