I'm curious what exactly Peterson was hoping to accomplish with whipping a 4 year old. I could see say, a 7+ year old getting whipped and comprehending why but how the hell does whipping a 4 year old do anything whatsoever? They aren't going to understand why you're beating the shit out of them. Even among the parents I know of who to spank their kids none do it to kids when they're that young.

I would say beating the shit out of them is a little excessive. It wasn't like they were fist fighting....

But I agree with your premise that 4 might be too young. I got beat with a belt as a kid including buckle sometimes. It was only reserved for egregious penalties like cursing at my grandma or stealing a $5. I think I turned out pretty well with 4 bachelor degrees, a soon to be MD, and I've never been in trouble with law enforcement other than the occasional speeding ticket or no seat belt violaton (I've had 3 ). Spankings should not be used as an everyday punishment, they should be used for more egregious acts.

It was the NFL players association that voted for the penalty of 16 games for drug violation so you can't the two.

I dont think players should punished more harshly because they were caught on video or pics are shown. Hardy body slammed a girl and mcdonald punched a pregnant woman. I see this no different than what rice or AP did.

I think with Peterson it is all he knows. He was treated that way as a boy, so he thinks that is normal parenting.

Spankees turn into Spankers and so on and so forth. It's not hard to punish a child without simply hitting them. I've seen the pictures and I don't get the huge deal, there might be a couple scabs he'll get but I figured to see some whip lashes by the way people are talking about Peterson.

This will blow over because I think it's getting blown out of proportion.

According to ESPN's Sal Paolantonio, who spoke with Vikings GM Rick Spielman, all options are on the table. The possibility exists, too, that the Vikings could part ways completely with Peterson as early as Sunday night, although several reports seem to indicate that the Vikings are not likely to cut him at this time.

Somebody is taking a quote to the extreme. Yes, all options are on the table, but they're not going to cut him when worst case he's getting probation. And in Texas, he might get off with people there considering it reasonable discipline.
