Deal is done Lions have a kicker

Lions signed K Matt Prater to a one-year contract.

It's kind of surprising Prater couldn't land a long-term deal. But it's a great spot for him, and the Lions need the help as their kickers have converted a god-awful 33 percent of their field goals so far this season. Prater immediately becomes one of the top kickers to own in Detroit's high-octane offense.

Adrian Peterson accidentally tweeted out the talking points his PR firm gave him on how to deal with the media as it relates to his legal problems.

1. My uncle and I never owned a Foundation Credit Card

2. ESPN contacted the CORRECT Foundation to clarify issues

3. ESPN found:SRAIGHT FROM THE HEART based in California confirmed receiving donations, NOT S.F.T.H based in Maryland. A Fired CPA incorrectly listed MD but ESPN followed up by contacting the CORRECT Foundation.

4. California Straight From the Heart confirmed receiving donations!!!

5. East Texas Food Bank confirmed donation received . North Texas was incorrectly listed on 990 by a firm later fired by Foundation (ESPN reporter confirmed.)

6. Make headlines by calling something an orgy (even though it was not) and incorrectly saying a Foundation card was used even though my uncle and I never owned one. ( All Day INC is a TOTALLY different entity than THE A.P All Day Foundation.

7. Do not retract the false allegation because everyone believes the false allegation because it was printed first.

8. Do not repost the ESPN story from August when I admit I was promiscuous, made mistakes and had to change by ways.

9. Instead Repost the story about father children out of wedlock..creates more buzz and retweets.

Sale of the Buffalo Bills completed for 1.4 billion dollars

Terry Pegula has been unanimously approved as the new owner of the Bills.

It's now official, as last week's win over the Lions was the last game the Wilson family owned the team. Pegula, 63, bought the Bills for about $1.4 billion. He's also the owner of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, and was the man Bills fans wanted to win the bid because he's keeping the team in Western New York.

Bittersweet day for Bills fans. Mr. Wilson was a great man. The Pegulas have big shoes to fill, but it's amazing to see my beloved Bills purchased by a family that were fans prior to the purchase.

Why do you think he accidentally tweeted these? If it was an accident, he would've deleted them by now. Instead he's trying to clear his name after a fabricated story by the Star Tribune (Minneapolis's version of TMZ). He may not be a good role model, but he doesn't deserve the treatment he's gotten the last few months.

Ndamukong Suh may not be the only top-two pick who could soon be bidding Detroit farewell.

With Suh, the second overall pick in 2010, poised to hit the open market in March, the Lions likewise could decide to tell Calvin Johnson, the second overall pick in 2007, to hit the road at about the same time.

Crazy as it seems, Johnson carries a cap number of $20.558 million into the next league year. While a restructuring that converts, for example, $10 million of his $12.5 million salary into a signing bonus could cut the cap number down to $12.558 million, the maneuver would drive his 2016 cap number of $24 million up to $26 million.

At some point, Johnson may have to take less money in order to stick around. If he doesn’t want to do that, the Lions may have to part ways with him.

Johnson’s health will be a major factor in the final analysis. While he has missed only seven games in seven-plus seasons, Johnson lately seems to be always injured, always either missing practice or limited. And always questionable to play. Currently, he’s dealing with a chronic ankle injury that may cause him to miss a game or two.

No matter good Johnson may be when healthy, at some point the total analysis will point to spending that money elsewhere.

The fact that the Lions seemed to be interested in trading up from No. 10 to get receiver Sammy Watkins or receiver Mike Evans and ultimately decided to use that pick on hybrid tight end/receiver Eric Ebron (who has only eight catches for 80 yards this season) suggests that the Lions are at least considering the wisdom of reallocating their dollars away from a guy who is one of the best receivers in league history when healthy, but who isn’t healthy enough often enough to justify a cap number that shoots from $13 million to more than $20 million in less than six months.

Nope, I don't see Johnson going anywhere. The team and the agents are smart enough to figure something out that works for everyone.

The last paragraph rags on Ebron a little. How many team execs expect a rookie TE to put up big numbers in his first five NFL games? This isn't fantasy football, this is real football. They are planning for the future. And with CJ being 29 years old, he should be a big part of that future for at least 6 more years. I don't see anything worth noting in this speculative story.

Amazingly, Ron Brooks, the Bills CB who bounced off his head on Sunday is expected to play Sunday. Talk about one lucky guy. When I first saw that injury, I thought he was in big trouble. He didn't even get a concussion.
