MJD to be sidelined for an 'extended period'

Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) has already been ruled out for Week 8, and will likely be sidelined an "extended period."

The word comes straight from coach Mike Mularkey. It's terrible news for fantasy owners, and even worse for a Jaguars team that struggled mightily in the absence of MJD and Blaine Gabbert in the second half on Sunday. Rashad Jennings is a must-add in the few leagues he wasn't already owned in, and locked into a considerable Week 8 workload. Now the question is whether MJD's injury is of the Lisfranc variety. It is indeed in the middle of Jones-Drew's foot.

Not everybody agrees with your interpretation of what he said:

This is a normal and healthy response (other than calling the female reporter "sweetheart"). Coming from any other player, these concepts would be chalked up to the frustrations of someone who wants to win. But from Newton—or at least, the Newton of this year—they're taken as evidence of immaturity; as throwing teammates and coaches under the bus; as a player unwilling to own up to his own failings. Maybe it's because the NFL media have gotten to know and to dislike Newton, but the usual script has been flipped. Under ordinary circumstances, it's a good thing when a player is upset by losing—he's a gamer, he's a competitor, he just wants to win so badly. Cam Newton? Charles Woodson injury: Packers DB out 6 weeks with broken collarbone

Green Bay Packers strong safety Charles Woodson will miss six weeks after breaking his collarbone against the St. Louis Rams this past Sunday, according to NFL reporter Jay Glazer. The 15th-year veteran recorded five tackles in the Packers' 30-20 win over the Rams.

Woodson has notched 28 tackles, 25 of them solo, through seven games this season. He has also forced a fumble, grabbed an interception, and defended five passes in his seventh year with Green Bay. The 36-year-old hasn't missed this much time since playing just six games in 2005, when he was a member of the Oakland Raiders.

The Packers got an important victory on Sunday, moving back over .500 at 4-3. The Packers have won two in a row and host the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8. If Woodson misses six weeks, he won't return until Green Bay's game against the Detroit Lions on Dec. 9, missing important games with the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings.

lol I didn't say anything, yahoo.com did. What I am correct about is his character all season (which is lining up more and more with why people were predicting him falling in the draft), thats pretty well documented and doesn't need to be confirmed via deadspin for proof.

RG3 has way more to complain about than him, poor wr's, poor oline, and a terrible defense costing him wins, yet his character is nothing like that.

Let's see what happens if RGIII gets off to a poor start next year. Wishy washy journalists will tag him as the next Michael Vick, just watch.

Newton's naysayers couldn't say anything last year, so they're making up for lost time. Some of what is being said is true. But a lot of it comes down to what to take shots at a guy they didn't like in the first place. There's even some who suggest benching Cam. Benching the second-year franchise QB when the entire team had inflated expectations? OK. . . .
