Did the NFL forget to send the giants owner the memo about the lockout being over and the signing of free agents can start?

Not looking good for one of my fantasy draft keepers in Manning, he seems to only be losing targets to throw to.

Im not a giants fan, just a fantasy owner of mannings and worried about the complete lack of them doing anything but lose players this off season.

Imo though Boss was a reliable target for manning when he was healthy which is the key because he seemed to always be dinged up in some shape or form the last few years.

Well since fans are linked to the actions of their owners, you let me know how to contact a NFL owner directly (and teach me how to change their minds), and I'll agree with that assessment.

ESPN has a story on their site about how Chris Johnson didn't report today and therefore missed the deadline to accrue a season. I don't know why ESPN is making this a story because it means nothing. Johnson signed a five-year rookie contract. Because he didn't show up today he'll only have four seasons accrued when his contract expires after the 2012 season. The reason this is a non-story is because you only need four accrued seasons to become an unrestricted free agent, so the fact that he didn't show up today means absolutely nothing. The date was important to DeSean Jackson because he only signed a four-year rookie deal and if he hadn't reported by today he would have been a restricted free agent following this season.

Quote:
SAN ANTONIO -- Felix Jones is thinking big for 2011.

"Just being the best running back in the league," Jones said. "That's what I want to do; just go out every day, compete and get better at everything I do."

Jones became the Cowboys' featured back after coach Jason Garrett took over at the midway point of the 2010 season and finished with a career-high 800 yards on 185 carries. He also caught a career-high 48 passes.

His words were not boastful but matter of fact as he attempts to join the likes of Tennessee's Chris Johnson, Minnesota's Adrian Peterson or Houston's Arian Foster.

The 22nd pick in the 2008 draft, Jones has seen backs drafted after him like Johnson, Pittsburgh's Rashard Mendenhall, Chicago's Matt Forte and Baltimore's Ray Rice have more success. His two Arkansas teammates, Cleveland's Peyton Hillis (1,177) and Oakland's Darren McFadden (1,157) had 1,000-yard seasons in 2010

Since Emmitt Smith was cut by the Cowboys before the 2003 season, the team has had only one 1,000-yard rusher. Julius Jones had 1,084 yards in 2006.

"It's a lot guys out there that are good at what they do," Jones said. "I've just got to try to separate myself and do things even better."

Jones will get more of a chance to put up the numbers this year than in his first three since the Cowboys cut Marion Barber. Jones had 498 yards in the last eight weeks, including 228 yards in the last three games. He had 11 or more carries in every game in the second half of the year after having only four games with that many in his first 28 contests.

Jones said his "be the best" mantra is not something new.

"You don't come out here to go through the motions," he said.

Garrett has liked Jones' approach to training camp.

"Just because he's played with another guy in college or with another guy since he's been here in the NFL doesn't mean he's not capable of doing the other thing," Garrett said. "There's been no indication of that from us. I think he's gotten physically stronger in the couple years he's been in the NFL. He's shown he can be more durable and I think he's just ready to take the next step as a player."

He has to show by week 10:

"As long as Johnson shows up by Week 10 of the 2011 regular season (which would get him credit for the fourth year of his contract), he’ll remain on track to be an unrestricted free agent when he otherwise would be a restricted free agent."

This is probably severely overblown. "Carted off the field" probably means he jumped in a golf cart to be taken over to the medical examiners. Its over 100 degrees where they are practicing and most of the players are driven by carts to other facilities around the area injured or not.

Yeah, but today's deadline was absolutely meaningless to Johnson. Regardless, I've got to think the Titans and Johnson will get something done. He's too valuable not to lock up. On the flip side, he needs to realize that he's not going to get a Tom Brady type salary and that he doesn't have a lot of leverage with 2 years left on his deal, so he needs to get realistic with his demands.

Because ESPN sucks!!! That's why. I can't hardly stand to watch them anymore. It's become the TWN: Tiger Woods network. Talk about non-storys.
