Gruden (or more likely his agent) is just trying to create leverage for Gruden. There was no way he was ever going to Tennessee and he wouldn't go back to the mess of a team Oakland has. It's going to take a couple years at least to rid the team of all of Al Davis' mistakes and poor management and Gruden wouldn't go to a situation where the team has no quarterback. Gruden has a great job at ESPN that pays very well and he's not going to leave that unless it's for a quality job.

Carolina defensive end Greg Hardy says the struggling Panthers are a better team than league-leading Atlanta.

Yes, the Falcons, who have clinched the NFC South Division title with an 11-1 record. The Panthers are 3-9 after losing Sunday to Kansas City (2-10).

When asked if he meant the Panthers were the better team on Sept. 30 when they lost 30-28 at Atlanta or better overall, Hardy replied, "Both."

Hardy says this Sunday's rematch is about "payback" and "punishment."

He says, "We owe them something and it is coming."

Hardy is among several Carolina defensive players who felt disrespected by Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan after television cameras caught him cursing as he shouted get off our field toward the Panthers sidelines after Atlanta's Week 4 win at the Georgia Dome.

Just a Great piece. I was fortunate enough to have seen him play in person 3 times (all at the Silverdome). Thus far, the 2 best docs on "It's a Football Life", this year, have been on ex-Lions.

Chris Spielman and Barry Sanders.

Percy Harvin has been placed on season-ending injured reserve with an ankle injury. There's some speculation that Harvin could come back later this season but doesn't want to because he's unhappy with his contract and the team hasn't been very willing to give him an extension.

Out of curiosity, do football players go into the HOF with a designated team like they (usually) do in baseball?

No, players do not have a designated teams and their busts don't make reference to a team.

RIDICULOUS! Goodell is thinking about removing kickoffs. Not exactly new news but this idea of the replacement is just ludicrous.

"After a FG or TD the team would RETAIN possession and it's 4th and 15 on their own 30."

That's just absurd. Way too many teams will end up going for it when they're down in the fourth quarter. Kickoffs are way more safe than this idea.

If they take kickoffs away can we really call it football anymore?

I like it.

Adds the "when do we go for it" aspect & anytime more strategy is added its ok by me.

We know kickoffs are going away eventually anyway so.

At least Denver doesn't have the superstar RB system anymore. Would probably be hard to watch another 200 yard runner.
