So we have to worry about Witten's contract after this year, I say give him a 4-5 deal worth about $7-8 million a year. I doubt Jerry will let him play anywhere else during his career, though.

Today, Sony and DirecTV announced a partnership to bring NFL Sunday Ticket to the PlayStation Network.

When the season starts, PS3 owners who don't already have a NFL Sunday Ticket subscription can download the PS3 app and subscribe for $339.95. If you already have a NFL Sunday Ticket subscription through DirecTV, you can spend $50 and use the PS3 as an additional receiver.
Just wow that only took a few years

Actually not really I don't like Stafford as a QB never wanted the Lions to Draft him, I wanted Sanchez or Bradford in 2010. I was all for the Lions taking a LT or MLB #1 overall in 2009. Hindsight is 20/20 tho cause we would have lost Suh and TBH I lover his meanness you have to understand its something we haven't had in 10 years here

$340 seems like a crazy amount for a 17 week season especially with all of the games that are already on TV/cable. I've been waiting for the NFL to have a streaming service like MLB, NBA, and NHL have, but $340 really? I'm sure that a lot of it has to do with it still being attached to Direct TV. In any event, it makes the $130 to subscribe to MLB.TV for an entire 162 game season look like chump change.

DTV charges 300 for it + you have to subscribe to DTV, this is the first time in 10+ years that they have just allowed you to BUY NFL Sunday ticket. If you do Netflix for 8/mo over 12 months + 349 your total TV bill is 445 USD for a year, if you subscribe to DTV your total bill is 900 USD a year, so overall if you don't watch Network TV the netflix option is the better deal. Also if you want MLB Extra Innings you can just buy MLB.TV for 150 on PS3 and watch all the baseball games that way. The only thing you lose out on is Hockey.

keep in Mind DTV had to outbid Comcast for NFL Sunday ticket and they paid upwards of 4 Billion dollars for the package

I'm not dogging Staffords ability as a leader, He shows promise, but the injuries for the money they paid him piss me off. Lions could have gotten a functional QB for 1/4 of the price and used that money to bolster the line.

Granted Stafford does things that improve my perception of him every day, and today is no exception. He showed what a leader he is in order to bring someone else in today to help the team.

The game against the browns when he hurt his shoulder 2 years ago his rookie season he came back in to the game in pain to win it for them that was leadership winner want the ball and for that I am happy he is here.

But as a Det fan I just need to see more as I'm at the point right now after 10 bad years I question almost every move this team makes until I see it pan out.

Also I just got DTV to give me Sunday ticket for free, new HR24 receiver, and 40 dollars in credits for the next year w00t!!!!!

That is way too much money. Especially when you think about the fact that in week one for exactly there are 16 games. 7 of them are already nationally televised. (Thursday, 2 Sunday at 1, 1 Sunday at 4, 1 Sunday night, and 2 monday). On most weeks it is 5 or so. Plus the ones on fox and cbs during the day are constantly updating you with highlights and fantasy updates. That is such a rip off.

If I lived out of my home teams area I would probably use the NFL package on the ps3. I dont want to order direct tv but I would still want to see my team play so thats a good alternative.

- thats not true about it being the 1st time - its been available thru the internet for the last few years....but the same rule applies for that as this PS3 option in that you have to be not able to get directv to get it.

If you can get directv but just choose not to you are ineligible.

- everyone that has directv and sunday ticket, as some have posted here, get basically at least half $$ off the $340 so its really $170 or even less.

- $4 billion for 4 years is really a steal for directv - not only for all the people that get direct due to ST but look at all the $$ directv gets from bars, clubs, restaurants....well worth it & thats why they reupped for that amount.

PLEASE tell me someone else read this.. it's the biggest ROFL moment of the decade

Quote:
For the better part of the last ten years, football fans have debated on who the greater quarterback is; Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.

On Tuesday, Eli Manning added himself among the elite in the game.

A guest on The Michael Kay Show on ESPN New York 1050, the New York Giants quarterback didn't shy away from the question when asked if he is in the same class as Brady.

"I consider myself in that class," Manning said. "Tom Brady is a great quarterback, he's a great player and what you've seen with him is he's gotten better every year. He started off winning championships and I think he's a better quarterback now than what he was, in all honesty, when he was winning those championships.

More Lions news ....

Quote:
As first reported by Crain's Detroit Business on Wednesday, Stafford agreed to restructure his contract which helped the team gain another $6 million in salary cap space for this season.

It was later learned that Vanden Bosch also restructured his deal, which saved the team another $2.5 million.

"We have a great locker room with great guys who want to win," Stafford said. "If I can restructure a deal to help our team go out and get the guys we need to help us win, then I am all for it."

I certainly don't think he is as good as Brady or Peyton but he's not far off the top teir or maybe at the bottom of it. He has won 60% of his games as a starter. He has never missed a game. He has been a full time starter for 6 years and his team has won 10 or more games 4 times and has never had a losing record. Plus he has won a Superbowl. In that time period there are only a couple of names that have more impressive resumes.
