Rodgers has made a habit of silencing his critics... To go from a Junior college... to a winning SB QB... he's been an underdog his whole football life. All I can say is thank you to McCarthy and the 49ers for passing on him in the draft. The historic Packers franchise is in good hands and to top it off Rodgers comes off as a player with some humility unlike his predecessor. If Rodgers wins another SB in GB... Rodgers will be viewed as the better QB in the eyes of the Packer fans which will further irk the meaningless record holding QB. As a football fan stats are nice BUT it in the end its about winning championships. When I was leaving Lambeau after the 2007 NFCC, I said I never wanted to see Favre play for the Packers again. Another dumb-@ss INT.... at least when he played in MN they got the full Favre experience... THE BEST and FINALLY THE WORST AT THE WORST POSSIBLE MOMENT. Here's a stat for Favre... two game changing INTs in 3 years in the NFCC.

Can't wait to see the Pack start defending their title in person on Sept. 8th.

The NFL has nothing to do with the NCAA as far as penalties go. Again, why didn't Pete Carol didn't get any penalty for what he did to USC and then ran off for the NFL? That would be like if a player got suspended from the CFL and then went to sign with a NFL team and then has to serve the CFL suspension in the NFL.

the biggest difference is Pryor is not covered by the union at this time. That is why he is being hit with this.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello confirmed Thursday that discipline for Kenny Britt, who was arrested three times over the offseason, is "pending."
Britt said last week that he had not yet heard from the league but was expecting to shortly. While none of his infractions have been serious in nature, Britt could face an early-season suspension as a repeat offender. His status for Week 1 may well be up in the air into September, as the NFLPA could appeal all discipline handed down for incidents that occurred during the lockout. A WR1 talent, Britt is still well worth drafting at his current late-sixth, early-seventh round ADP.

I just haven't liked what I've seen from Ryan (all of one PREseason game ) I think Romo will light it up in all honesty.

When Ricky Williams ran to the CFL after failing another drug test and he signed with the Toronto Argonauts, the CFL and NFL came to an agreement to uphold each others suspensions and not let them jump back and forth.

We're stacked on offense at #1 and #2 receiver, #1 RB, #1 and #2 TE but we need more depth at RB and WR. Really hope someone beats out Ogletree for the #3 spot, he's just not very consistent. Wouldn't be an issue if Jerry had own up to his mistake last year and gotten rid of Roy Williams instead of Patrick Crayton.

LOL hes Jerry Jones you expect him to admit when he did wrong ... lol Then again he was dumb enough to give up a 1st round pick for Williams to Begin with we were laughing so damn hard here in the D when it happened.

I know it's just preseason but Mike Vick looked absolutely terrible last night. He had 3 interceptions and easily could have had a couple more. He was just throwing the ball up for grabs rather than taking sacks. The Steelers offense looked really sharp though. They had no problems scoring against the Eagles vaunted defense and Roethlisburger was throwing all over their secondary.

I watched some of the Patriots replay this morning and their offense is just scary. They have so many weapons and a stronger offensive line with Logan Mankins reporting to camp on time and rookie Nate Solder at tackle, where he had no problem against fellow first round pick Adrian Clayborn. Their first team defense was dominate as well, holding the Bucs to 73 yards in the first half. If the Pats stay healthy I can't see them going worse than 14-2.

You need a Rosie Colvin "Calm Down," it's just preseason.

I know it's just preseason, but when first teams are going against each other I still think it's a good indicator of how good the teams currently are. I know Vick and Freeman will improve and the Eagles D needs some time to gel but their play yesterday still has to be worrisome. Regardless, I'm just excited because last night was the first time I got to see most of the star players in action.

One thing I will say about the Patriots is they will not be good from a fantasy standpoint. Other than Brady they don't have a number one player. Welker is good in PPR leagues but only topped 100 yards once last year and only had seven touchdowns, and his numbers could fall with both Ocho and Branch there. At tight end they have two great players in Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski but it's impossible to know which player will have a good game and which one will have a dud. BenJarvus Green-Ellis was good last year but his numbers could fall with the addition of rookies Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen there. Ridley in particular could lessen Green-Ellis' touchdown numbers as he's a bigger back and could get more goal line looks.

Today could be the day to actually determine who might be the starting QB come Week 1. Both Garrard & Gabbert are going to play against Atlanta. I'll be keeping a close eye on this one. I'm a long time Garrard supporter and his time may be up for the Jags.

Giants RE Osi Umenyiora is out 3-4 weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his troublesome knee.
It wasn't a phantom knee injury, after all. Umenyiora complained of knee "soreness" after ending his holdout, and rumors he might need the joint scoped proved true. The timetable will likely keep Osi out of the Giants' opener, and perhaps more games based on his ability to recover. Jason Pierre-Paul will take over as New York's starting weak-side end. If "JPP" plays like he's capable, Umenyiora will have a tough time getting his job back.

Terrelle Pryor now plans to appeal the NFL's five-game suspension. Yesterday his agent Drew Rosenhaus said Pryor would not appeal the suspension, but today his lawyer said he will appeal. Pryor was told he can appeal the suspension within three days of signing a contract.

What I see from Ryan is what I've been expecting, lots of movement before the snap up front and when you have guys like Ware, Spencer, Butler and Ratliff, that can be very hard for offensive lines to deal with. Hoping Hatcher can stay healthy, this could be his year to have a huge impact if so.

The New Meadowlands Stadium is reportedly being renamed MetLife Stadium. The deal could be worth $20 million per year over the next 20 years.

Quote:
ARLINGTON, Texas -- The best running backs -- Arian Foster, Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson -- all watched the playoffs on the tube.

The game has changed. You win in today's NFL by throwing the ball.

Anyone older than 50 will consider that blasphemous. They'll talk about Vince Lombardi and George Halas rolling over in their graves.

Oh, well, it's the truth.

Tom Brady. Peyton Manning. Aaron Rodgers. Drew Brees. The game, these days, is about the quarterback.

Think about it. All the rules are designed to help the passing game, whether we're talking about how offensive linemen can use their hands or the way defensive backs can't.

Those best quarterbacks generate points with their arms. Big plays come in the passing game, then teams use the running game to punch in touchdowns. Or they use it to burn the clock in the fourth quarter.

Green Bay, a passing team with a sixth-round pick starting at running back, won last season's Super Bowl.

Two seasons ago, New Orleans beat Indianapolis in the Super Bowl. Both would be classified as passing teams. And the year before that, Arizona, the epitome of a passing team, would have won the Super Bowl if Pittsburgh's Santonio Holmes hadn't made one of the great catches in Super Bowl history in the final minute.

Just so you know, the Cowboys have never thrown the ball less than 57 percent of the time since Jason Garrett became the offensive coordinator in 2007.

They threw it 59 percent of the time last season.

"To say that we want to be 51 percent passing to 49 percent running, that's not really the world we live in," Garrett said. "The world we live in is break the huddle and be good at a lot of different things.

"The best offenses have more than one thing that they do. If you're simply a running team, at some point defenses in this league can take away the run, and certainly if you're a throwing team, the same thing is true."

This team is built to pass.

The receiver-tight end triumvirate of Miles Austin, Dez Bryant and Jason Witten will be among the NFL's best. Felix Jones will get plenty of chances to make big plays on screen passes, and third-round pick DeMarco Murray was the best receiving back in the draft.

Garrett believes the Cowboys can keep Tony Romo healthy with Doug Free and first-round pick Tyron Smith at the tackle spots.

Conventional wisdom says that when a running back gains more than 100 yards, his team has a better chance to win. But that's not the case with the Cowboys.

In the past three seasons, Dallas is just 3-3 when it has a 100-yard rusher -- and it doesn't matter whether you blame it on Garrett's reluctance to call running plays or the Cowboys' lack of a marquee back.

Since 2007, Dallas is 18-5 when Romo passes for at least 300 yards.

Bottom line: The Cowboys are significantly better when Romo is the epicenter of the offense, and they use the running game to close out games or set up play-action passes.

We're talking about a quarterback who has 118 touchdown passes and 65 interceptions in the past four seasons. It's no coincidence that Romo's best individual seasons have coincided with the Cowboys' best seasons.

Dallas went 13-3 in 2007 and 11-5 in 2009.

Romo averaged more than 8 yards per attempt in each of those seasons, which is outstanding, and in the past four seasons, he has 72 touchdown passes and 25 interceptions in games Dallas has won and 27 touchdowns and 24 interceptions in its losses.

He's the biggest difference between whether the Cowboys win or lose.

Garrett, with his Ivy League education, is a bright guy who understands that the best way to make the Cowboys contenders again is by taking advantage of Romo's passing skills.

That will make some of you cringe. You're going to have to deal with it.

This defense is going to struggle while it learns the nuances of Rob Ryan's scheme.

The offense, led by Romo, is the Cowboys' best chance to win this season.

Chiefs first round pick wide receiver Jonathon Baldwin will reportedly miss the remainder of the preseason after injuring his wrist in a fight with teammate Thomas Jones. Kansas City radio host Nick Wright is hearing the injury could keep Baldwin out 6-8 weeks, but can't confirm that. Per the link:
