Did we both not watch the same game lol McCoy did not look impressive, the Lions D helped you out bigtime with all the penalties. Lets look at the stats here...

Lions D was flagged 9x for 75 yards during the entire time McCoy was in game and gave up 21 points.

Stafford went 6/10 for 75 yards and 1 TD then was pulled 3/4 of the way through the 1st Quarter, Missing were Best and Johnson, Burelson was pulled in the 1st Quarter

Best was taken out of the game after suffering a concussion on the 3rd running play of the game, He also gave up a fumble to Browns which gave them position on like the 20.

McCoy finished 10 of 18 for 96 yards and 3TD, all drives were short drives because the Lions D screwed up, and McCoy played almost the entire 1st half. Was he better then in previous years yeah, was he impressive no not really. Next year I think hell make some great progress, but in all honesty I do not see that happening unless the Browns get some good receivers. Browns had WAAAAAYYY to many dropped balls.

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic confirms that Ryan Williams is done for the season with a ruptured right patellar tendon.
Williams will undergo season-ending surgery early next week. While he has youth and time on his side, there's a chance Williams will never take the field at the NFL level again. Though the Cards plan to add a backup running back before Week 1, Beanie Wells projects to be a bell cow in Williams' absence.

The Cardinals have signed Larry Fitzgerald to a massive 8-year, $120 million contract with $50 million guaranteed.

Geez, he'll be about 35 by the end of that deal. Oh well, it's the NFL and you can always cut a guy. That's a lot of guaranteed money, but the guy is very consistent and hasn't missed many games, so he might be worth it. He should help Kolb's numbers too.

don't know if i agree with this. actually, i DON'T agree with this.

great player? hell yeah. but you have a new QB who may not be all that he was worth giving up to get and a team that really isn't all that good. add in he's already 27, and signing him to such a deal, unless all the money is coming during the next 3 or 4 years, this may cost them big time when he's 33 and making god knows how much!

not everyone has the insane ability to stay near top form at old age like Donald Driver - but it helps he's on a team with a top 5 QB and a plethora of solid / great WR's so he's not double / triple covered like Fitz is.

not to mention that the position is a dangerous one. it's probably the highest high risk / high reward position you could have (well.. maybe QB is more) and i personally wouldn't throw a whole bunch of money at WR's. no matter how great.

Smart move by the Cards. He's a future Hall of Famer, and now he's a career Cardinal.

Def a smart move, WR like Fitz dont come around very often... These numbers look very inflated though, i bet most of its front loaded.. But my first thoughts at the $50 mil guaranteed made me do this..

Plus receivers tend to last longer than players at most positions. He very well could be a good receiver at the back end of that deal. And even if he's not it's easy to cut a guy in the NFL.

That is a big salary cap hit for a team that needs more help. They signed kolb to 60 million (?) contract and still not much of a line or running game to keep kolb off his back not to mention that without a second wr fitz will be doubled the whole game (even though that is almost normal for him).

Speaking of Larry, I wonder how much the Texans will give Andre Johnson and the Lions will give Calvin Johnson?

Chris Johnson left Nashville Sunday without meeting with Titans management.
Johnson was only in town to attend to personal business, so he never made it to Titans headquarters. The two sides remain in a stalemate with zero progress made since the start of training camp. The Titans are going to have to pay their franchise player eventually, and they're losing leverage by the day. Larry Fitzgerald's $50 million guaranteed is only going to harden Johnson's stance.

I'll give you a hint; it was in 1997, and the man is now a head coach in the NFL.

(Manning's recovery from neck surgery is progressing slower than expected, and he may or may not start the first game of the season.)
They better hope Painter is ready to go then. He was pretty good at Purdue, but he has never really had a chance to play in the NFL.

This isn't a Matt Cassell situation where the backup can be thrown into the mix and still win 11 games. If Manning went down with an injury I'm sorry but the Colts are lucky to go 9-7 and won't make the playoffs. The little Painter has played he's flat-out sucked.

Preseason games are never a sign of things to come. If they were the Lions would have gone 16-0 instead of 0-16 a few years back.
