Bad idea. Once a guy reports to camp there's literally no chance he'll then decide to leave camp. It's just conceding defeat. And the prospect of popping a hammy by week 3 is exactly why these guys want guaranteed money right now. Running backs can see their career end at any time. It would be outright stupidity for Johnson to report without a huge new contract.

I understand the desire for a guaranteed contract - this isn't my first day following football.

What I don't like is breaching a contract - this isn't my first day being a lawyer.

Don't the owners and GMs do that all the time as well? Didn't Ryan Grant just have to restructure his deal and take less money or risk being cut? It works both ways.

The fact is, they would have cut Grant is he didn't take less money. CJ2K has 2 years left on his deal and the Titans won't cut him. Worst case scenario they can just hold onto him for 2 years to punish him. (Like Carson Palmer)

This is why the players annoy me. THEY signed these contracts, then they get mad when money isn't thrown at them for ONE good year. Seriously, I know the Titans owner said he would make CJ2K the highest paid RB in football, I don't see why. But holding out for QB money when you don't deserve it is just stupid.

Hey, I've never seen a contract, but my guess is most contracts give teams the rights to do just that.

If not, these are all just a bunch of illusory contracts with no meaning at all.

That is exactly what they are. NFL contracts don't really mean much. Not much of it is guaranteed. They can be cut at any time even while you are hurt. I understand the idea of playing under what you signed but when Chris Johnson is still on his rookie deal make 500 thousand a year he is grossly underpaid. You can't expect him to sit there and take that when if the situation was reversed and he was making 10 million and not playing well the team would release him and not pay him. View it how you want. Either both sides are right or both are wrong but it is the way it is and they both know the rules.

The fact is that he made more in other years than this one. Just because the contract was structured for this year to be cheap doesn't mean he deserves a new one. If he wanted the money more evenly spaced he should have told his agent that.

One of the Steelers LB's (Harrison I think) was making very little last year (under a million) and he still played all out. Holding out with more than a year left on your contract just shows you're greedy.

Jarvis Jenkins has been diagnosed with a torn ACL.
It's a tough pill to swallow for the Redskins. Jenkins was one of the stars of training camp, showing raw yet explosive skills while playing the two-gap end spot in the 3-4. The No. 41 overall pick is now done for the season, leaving Adam Carriker as the likely starter opposite Stephen Bowen at defensive end.

I dont know is Cap Munnerlyn or Chris Gamble was on AJ all game but he repeatedly beat his man all night long. He shouldve had more yards and 2 TD's but andy is still getting used to making the big throws.

The biggest thing was for me to see our OLINE yes it was the panthers only, but still we really took out charles johnson and the running game was on point.

Defense was decent, and the pressure we got in the pcket was awesome. Seeing as this is the most important preseason game League-wide i came away relieved alittle bit.

That kid's going to be something special in the NFL. Can't wait - quality kid, too.

I've only bee as fan for about 6 years here(21), and the feeling of the team is alot different. So much youth. Everybody is trying to fight hard and their's no big Ego's running amuck. This may be a rebuilding year but it's looking good. a good draft next year and where righ tin there.

Hope so - I felt bad for AJ when he got drafted there, especially since the Falcons were so close to trading for him.
