You're better off, Landry is an injury-prone hitter with subpar coverage skills, the loss of Revis also over-estimated, guy hasn't played a full season since 2010, you're better off letting him go and pocketing the 1st rounder you'll get in compensation.

I suppose but he was above average last year and was one of the main reasons we were an average to above average defense last year. It definitely wasn't because of our slow LB's or lack of pass rush. If we get a 1st rounder then great, but there really is no realistic person to replace him. Maybe Bernard Pollard on the cheap .

So it sounds like the Patriots reached a deal with Amendola on Tuesday, but wanted Welker to sign elsewhere first so it appeared like Welker was leaving them rather than the team ditching Welker. It's also sounding like there was some severe personality problems between Welker and Belichick and McDaniels. Welker felt that they were trying to phase him out of the offense and if Hernandez and Gronk stayed healthy then his touches would have dropped.

I also find it funny that people talk about how Amendola and McDaniels know each other from the year McDaniels was the offensive coordinator in St. Louis. That was the lockout year and Amendola got hurt in the first game of the season, so they only had a couple weeks together.

Apparently the Titans were in the Welker bidding for a while and they offered $15m/2y. He took 12m with the Broncos instead. So the guy is willing to take less money for a chance to win just like Brady and what not but, the Pats were lowballing a little too much.

From the sounds of it Kolb will be the next starting quarterback of the Jets. And I'm hearing rumors Buffalo is interested in signing Cassel. I'd be fine with Cassel as a backup to whoever we draft. He's obviously not starting material, but he'd be a solid backup in case your starter goes down. It would certainly be an upgrade over Jackson. Again, it's just rumors so who knows what might happen.

The Eric Wright signing didn't turn out well for the Bucs, but they got lucky that he failed a drug test and was suspended because that voided the guaranteed $7.75 million he was due this year, although he has filed a grievance over that and if he wins the Bucs will have to keep him for another year.

Although Nicks was injured he looked pretty good. Vincent Jackson was a star last year. Wright was a disappointment but like you said they voided his contract and he's gone. Not much of a consequence from signing him, and it's doubtful he wins his case. If they trade for Revis, they are getting a great player. The best at his position when healthy. Goldson might come back and bite them, but I like what they are trying to do. They need a really strong secondary to compete with Brees, Ryan, and Cam for at least 6 games per season.

I see it more as a figurehead signing, they brought in a veteran back-up to appease the fans but it's one that won't threaten Ponder's security as the starter on the Vikings.

Another free-agent jolt: Rams free-agent RB Steven Jackson has reached agreement with the Atlanta Falcons.

This will certainly help Atlanta with the release of Michael Turner. I'm a bit surprised Green Bay didn't sign him because they really need help at running back.
