So with the Ravens signing of Elvis Dumervil, the ray of hope shines anew. I am very happy to see a veteran presence added to the roster. So now the defense has Ngata, Suggs, Upshaw, Dumervil. That is a brutal quartet IMO.

On offense we really only lost Bolding, but with Torrey Smith breaking out as a great WR, Dickson and Pitta at TE, and Ray Rice always lurking to break monster run s out I can still see the Ravens in the Super Bowl for a repeat. We need one more WR to compliment Smith and then all defense to start training the next Lewis/Reed/Suggs.

Ozzy is the man. Let people walk who want to much money and sign new players who make immediate impacts on the field.

The ravens have no secondary and no tough wideout to throw to so they prob wont make the playoffs. Signing dumbervil def wont push them to another S.B. and this is coming from a ravens fan that lives in md but I am not living in a fantasy world when we lost all of our best players.

Smith has broken out as a great corner and Ladarius Webb is fully recovered from missing last season. Losing Ed Reed is not the end of the world. They now have corners who can bring great coverage so the safety won't need to do ALL the work anymore.

Plus, with Ngata, Suggs, Upshaw, and Dumervil getting to the passer should be much easier taking a lot of pressure off the backfield to bring the miracles.

Yeah but before where they were stacked even with injury they're really just a problem or two away from nightmare.

Packers TE Jermichael Finley, due a $3 million roster bonus by 4 pm today, will remain in Green Bay and make $8.25 million this season.

I'm surprised the Packers gave him that much. He doesn't seem to jive with the team first mentality of the Packers organization.

It looks like James Harrison (and/or his agent) greatly overestimated what he could get on the open market. Harrison was due $6.5 million this season but the Steelers wanted to restructure his deal to roughly $4.5 million with incentives that could push the total value of the deal back to $6.5 million. Harrison rejected the deal, and the Steelers released him. Now Harrison isn't finding much interest in the open market. The Ravens had interest but no longer do after signing Elvis Dumervil. Harrison talked yesterday about returning to the Steelers but there are reports that they have no interest in bringing Harrison back. At this point Harrison will be lucky to get half what the Steelers had previously offered him as there has been virtually no interest in him since he was released.

This is why so many NFL players go broke:

Quote:
@JennyVrentas: Giants' Shaun Rogers allegedly has $500,000 of jewelry stolen in Miami Beach hotel ... That doesn't sound good.
Rogers has probably made around $35 million in his career, but after taxes, union dues, and agent fees that's probably around $18 million. He's on the downside of his career, signing a one-year, $1 million contract with the Giants, and unlikely to ever see another big payday. I would be shocked if he isn't broke within 2 years of his retirement.

This is what happens when you let your pride and ego get in the way. He should have just took the pay cut and stayed with the Steelers. He will get a one year deal somewhere.
