I know he was on my fantasy team at one point though. He didn't make it through the whole season because his stats started disapearing.

Thanks for the great memories Freddie. Fred Taylor goes way back where he was drafted when I was a sophomore in high school (98). You had a great, and long career. Not too many Running Backs last this long. You will be missed and one of my all-time favorite Jaguar.

I would love to see Fred in the Hall of Fame, he is very deserving but I am not holding my breath...

Apparently Pryor has appealed his 5 game suspension and shoud very much do so, if they keep the suspension than Pete Carrol, Reggie Bush,Tressel, and anyone else involved in shady things during college should all be suspended 5 games too, at least reduce his suspension to only a few games... Its BS that all these guys got away with nothing, yet Pryor gets a 5 game ban...

You're just mad because Pryor is a Raider and you don't have any viable QBs.

Carroll is all but banned from the NCAA, something that may catch up to him in the NFL and Reggie Bush gave back his Heisman.

Buccaneers say Lee Roy Selmon has died

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers said today that Lee Roy Selmon, perhaps the greatest player in franchise history, has died.

“Tampa Bay has lost another giant,” the team said in a statement. “This is an incredibly somber day for Buccaneer fans, Sooner fans, and all football fans. Lee Roy’s standing as the first Buc in the Hall of Fame surely distinguished him, but his stature off the field as the consummate gentleman put him in another stratosphere. Put simply, he was first class. He was the real deal. We are so blessed to have known this fine man and to have called him one of our own, yet so sad to have lost him so soon. Our hearts go out to the Selmon family at this time of their loss.”

The 56-year-old Selmon suffered a stroke on Friday. There were conflicting reports about his condition, with his restaurant chain prematurely issuing a statement saying he had died on Friday, then his brother Dewey saying over the weekend that Lee Roy was improving. On Sunday afternoon, the Bucs confirmed that Selmon had died.

Indy radio host says Peyton needs another neck procedure

Here’s one that we considered holding until we could get confirmation. But the emails are flowing in like chocolates on a conveyor belt, and the only way to turn the machine off is to post an item on what could be a stunning development in the saga of Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

Radio host John Michael Vincent of ESPN 1070 in Indianapolis says via Twitter, citing multiple unnamed sources, that Manning needs another procedure on his neck, and that Manning is out indefinitely.

Manning has had two neck surgeries in the last two years, and there have been concerns regarding his recovery and rehabilitation. The team’s recent decision to sign Kerry Collins raised eyebrows. Since then, Manning has been activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list, and he lately has seemed upbeat when discussing the situation with the media. Also, the decision to keep only two other quarterbacks.

Says John Michael Vincent, who goes by his initials on the air, of his report: “I’m not trying to be a newsbreaker. Never cared for that. I thought you would like to know. Seems to be solid. If I’m wrong U can torch me.”

Necks the one thing you don't want to mess around with... 100 million dollar contracts are nice, but if you can't walk or use your arms, it isn't much good.

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning is being re-evaluated by several doctors because of the slow progress in his rehab from offseason neck surgery, sources familiar with his medical condition told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen.

However, the sources said that no new procedure on Manning's neck is scheduled at this time.

The Colts activated Manning from the physically-unable-to-perform list on Aug. 29 and cleared him to practice on a limited basis. Manning had been on the PUP since the team's first training camp practice on Aug. 1 following the May procedure to repair a nerve in his neck.

Manning has started 227 consecutive games, including the playoffs, the second-longest streak in NFL history for quarterbacks behind Brett Favre. Of all the numbers Manning has put up over the years, the streak is the one he has usually said means the most.

Second-string quarterback Curtis Painter has struggled for the most part during preseason and the Colts signed 16-year veteran Kerry Collins out of retirement as a potential insurance policy.

The surgery was originally expected to keep Manning off the field for six to eight weeks.

Instead, the recovery has gone slower than expected, something Manning has blamed, in part, on the 4½-month lockout that kept him away from team trainers.

A Colts source tells CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman that there is "potential" for Peyton Manning (neck) to miss 4-5 games "or more" to start the season.
The Colts originally thought Kerry Collins would play a game or two in place of Manning. That's no longer the case. "I can tell you the coaches are preparing for a longer period of life without Manning," writes Freeman. "They are hoping for the best but now fearing the worst." According to SI.com's Peter King, Manning is also dealing with a sore back. It's time to lower expectations for Reggie Wayne, Austin Collie, Pierre Garcon, and Dallas Clark. Kerry Collins is now on the radar as a low-end QB2.
