I'm glad to see he might finally be coming to his senses. He could be a very solid addition to your team if he's willing to be a TE. He's a really good kid, a great role model, and I wish him the best. (Just not against the Bills!)

Happy for what? Of what possible use could he be for the Patriots other than a publicity stunt?

He'd be a hell of a hybrid TE/H-Back.

My Pats have signed Tebow? Bill has something up his sleeve because he wouldn't have signed Tebow if he didn't. Oh is Skip Bayless gonna love this! Cant wait to hear what he says tomorrow morning on First Take.

I have a hard time believing the Patriots would sign him unless he's open to changing positions. He probably realized his NFL career is over unless he makes some changes.

Lots of teams were willing to give him a shot if he switched positions. He always said no. Guess we'll find out what the Pats plan to do with him.

I can care less what Bayless and anyone else in sports media has to say about this. I'm really not a 'Pats' fan but I like this move. The only thing that I'm concerned with is, how will he be used, and if at all. He either will be used significantly and often, due to his change in position. As opposed to how the Jets utilized him, it wouldn't be fair to say he will do better, due to the fact that he never gave the Jets a chance at changing his position. But due to him too or not, the use of him may turn out much the same and/or worse than what the Jets had planned. His change in position has everything to due with why he is still NFL material I'm not a Tebow hater, I'm actually a big fan and surprisingly pulling for the guy I really wished that the Denver Broncos had kept him to be under Manning or at least on the roster for the future. Along with Manning, Tebow could have been the game changer for the Broncos in 2012 Denver loved him.

Oh ironic, and Tebow played the Patriots the following week

Exactly.
Belichick doesn't thrive off publicity the way Ryan does. He has a plan for him and it won't be warming a bench.

Quote:
Again, he may not be wrong. Just as Belichick's innovations in recent years have helped the Patriots' offense stay cutting-edge, he may be able to exploit Tebow's potential as a tight end/H-back/short-yardage runner. With Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez having struggled with injuries during their brief, productive careers, could Tebow be the X-factor that allows the team's tight-end-oriented attack to stay avant-garde?

Now imagine Tebow and newly signed running back LeGarrette Blount as dual threats on fourth-and-short, perhaps both lined up behind Tom Brady in a jumbo formation? That, sports fans, is a load of a backfield.

Looks like the Pats will be even more popular and probably contend with the Cowboys as America's team.

ESPN is reporting that the Pats are planning to use Tebow as the 3rd string QB.

Maybe he's cheap, but otherwise I don't know what the Pats are thinking. This has to be McDaniels asking for him.

I'm sure all the Pats gave Tebow was the NFL minimum with no guaranteed money. Belichick has always been a fan of Urban Meyer's players and he may just want to see how Tebow looks in practice. If he doesn't look good or Belichick decides during training camp that Tebow doesn't look good or he only wants to carry 2 quarterbacks then he can cut Tebow and no harm will be done. I really can't imagine the Patriots using Tebow in a goal line package because the Patriots already had the best red zone offense last season in terms of touchdown percentage.

Why would he be good at that position? Has he ever caught a pass in his life?

I just got an email from the Patriots Pro Shop encouraging me to pre-order a Tebow jersey today. Tebow currently doesn't have a number. Ryan Mallett is #15 and it's unlikely the team would have him switch for a player that might not make the team so the rumor is Tebow will wear either #5, which he wore in high school, or #8. #5 is currently worn by a kicker that has no real chance of making the team and #8 is open after the release of Mike Kafka.

Edit: Tebow is wearing #5.

why not get tebow for a backup qb

your starter goes down, tebow goes in and can steal a couple games for you
the only downside is the media circus but, no team handles the media better than the Pats

if he can do things at other positions, then even better

belichick is like a politician, expertly answering everything with non answers

I can just picture a garbage time blowout vs the Jets at the meadowlands, they put Tebow in and he scores 2 TD's

Even in garbage time they are not going to pull Brady for Tebow. That simply does not, and will not, happen.

And your belief that he would "steal a few" if Brady goes down is based on the flawed belief that Mr. 8-8 for the Broncos was somehow a great QB being held down by the man.
