Cruz was a restricted free agent. It would have cost other teams a first round pick to sign him and nobody was willing to give that up, so his only move was to sign the restricted free agency tender. Cruz and the Giants can continue to negotiate a long-term deal, but if Cruz didn't sign the tender by Monday the Giants had the option of dropping the amount of his tender to $630,000, and although there was no indication the Giants had planned on dropping the tender Cruz apparently wasn't willing to risk it. With Cruz and Hakeem Nicks both becoming unrestricted free agents after the season it's going to be tough for the Giants to be able to sign both to long-term deals.

yeah and if Cruz puts up his same numbers again he'll be golden after this... Devastating Injury I'd rather have some of that 2.3 contract then 630k.

Hmmm...

Aaron Hernandez's home searched

Investigators searched New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez's North Attleboro, Mass., home Tuesday in connection with the death of a man who police said was an associate of Hernandez, ABC News reported.

ABC News reports that Massachusetts investigators plan to interview Hernandez about the death.

During the search that lasted hours, two friends of Hernandez who were in the house tried to leave but were stopped by state police at the end of the driveway. Crime scene investigators later searched the car the men attempted to leave in, according to the report.

On Tuesday night, some police officers stood on the front steps of Hernandez's home and others could be seen inside. Some walked around the driveway and in the garage with flashlights. Before wrapping up their work for the night, one officer took a box out of the massive house.

Hernandez has not been named as a suspect, but a rental vehicle with Rhode Island plates was found near the scene, which led investigators to Hernandez, SI.com reported.

Hernandez was initially uncooperative with police after the body of a 27-year-old man was found in an industrial park not far from the Patriots player's home, two law enforcement sources told ABC.

Hernandez is represented by the Athletes First agency, which said it has no comment "on the Aaron Hernandez situation." The player's mother said by telephone from Connecticut on Tuesday she had no knowledge of a case involving him.

"I am aware of the reports, but I do not anticipate that we will be commenting publicly during an ongoing police investigation," Patriots spokesman Stacey James said.

What the heck... Now Hernandez is being at the very least mentioned in two shootings.

Lawsuit: Aaron Hernandez shot man

Embroiled in the investigation of the shooting death of a man near his Massachusetts home this week, New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez also is the subject of a civil lawsuit alleging he shot a Connecticut man in February, according to court records.

The body of a man, identified Wednesday as 27-year-old Odin Lloyd, was found Monday evening about a mile from Hernandez's sprawling house in an upscale subdivision. Lloyd was shot in the head, sources told ABC' News. His body was discovered in a clearing near John Dietsch Boulevard not far from a vehicle that had been rented by Hernandez, the sources said.

At least seven state troopers on Wednesday searched both sides of a road just off the street where Hernandez lives. The officers used thin poles to pull back plants and search through undergrowth along the road, two days after a body was found about a mile away.

Meanwhile, New York attorney David Jaroslawicz told ESPN's Ed Werder that he represents Alexander S. Bradley, the man who claims he was shot by Hernandez after the two argued upon leaving a Miami nightclub in February.

Jaroslawicz said Wednesday that he filed a personal-injury lawsuit on behalf of his client but that the suit was withdrawn because of an inaccuracy. A corrected version will be refiled in Florida federal court later on Wednesday, Jaroslawicz said.

Jaroslawicz said his client has been a friend of Hernandez for several years. The lawyer said Bradley spent several weeks being treated at a hospital and has endured several operations with even more necessary to repair damage from the gunshot wound.

The original lawsuit, Jaroslawicz said, alleged that Hernandez shot Bradley in the face. The refiling contends that Bradley was shot in the arm but the bullet traveled into his head and caused damage there, including the loss of his right eye.

Asked whether he has a police report of the incident, Jaroslawicz declined to provide information. According to USA Today, his client was in the hospital for weeks and "I'm sure the police were there."

A spokesman for Miami-Dade police told USA Today that he was checking to see whether a report was filed.

Hernandez is represented by the Athletes First agency, which said early Wednesday that it had no comment on the police investigation. His mother said by phone from Connecticut on Tuesday she had no knowledge of a case involving him.

In 38 games, the 6-foot-1, 245-pound Hernandez has 175 receptions for 1,956 yards and 18 touchdowns. He missed 10 games last season with an ankle injury and had shoulder surgery in April but is expected to be ready for training camp. The Patriots have not said which shoulder was operated on.

Last summer, the Patriots gave Hernandez a five-year contract. It was worth $40 million, according to reports, and came just months after the team locked up tight end Rob Gronkowski through 2019.

that one was dropped becasue police didn't want to pursue it.

Quote:
New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez, who was questioned by police about a murder near Boston last night, may have been involved with another shooting — this one in Riviera Beach Feb. 13.

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the report of a man bleeding from the head early that morning on Fiscal Court, in an industrial part of Riviera Beach.

When they arrived, according to the PBSO report, they found Alexander Bradley bleeding from the head and a hand.

Bradley was uncooperative and rude to both deputies and emergency personal — and refused to identify his attacker.

He did, however, claim in a federal lawsuit filed in West Palm Beach June 13 that Hernandez, the Patriots’ up-and-coming tight end and former University of Florida standout, was the one who shot him while waving a gun at him during a dispute.

The bullet traveled up Bradley’s arm and into his skull, shattering his eyeball.

The argument between Hernandez and Bradley, who were friends, allegedly occurred as the two drove north on I-95 in Palm Beach County after a night of partying in Miami strip joints.
Didn't want to identify the guy then said hernandez? Fishy

Agreed. Right now both cases sound fishy. It's still really bad luck either way.

On the radio they just said it's being reported that Aaron Hernandez is going to be arrested soon in connection to that murder that happened near his home. They did not say on what charges yet.
