Think you can use the different devices but only one stream at any given time.

Every time you ask how much farther can Titus Young fall?, he answers. Young missed his fourth straight court appearance today, and a bench warrant has been issued for his arrest.

It'd be good to start at the beginning, but which beginning? When the Lions waived the talented receiver the first day they were allowed to make roster moves? When he purposefully lined up in the wrong spot in practice, and was sent home and told to stay away from the team? When he sucker-punched a teammate in practice? When he slipped to the second round of the draft because of a checkered college career that included at least three suspensions?

No, Young's problems are nothing new. But in recent months, they've gone into overdrive. On May 4, he was arrested for shoplifting snacks from a gas station convenience store. The very next day he was arrested twice: first on suspicion of DUI, then later that night for trying to steal his car back from an impound lot. Five days later he was arrested for breaking into someone's home, and trying to fight police when they arrived. (Young spent 27 days in jail. His family declined to bail him out, because he was a danger to himself and others.) While incarcerated, the mother of his child filed for a restraining order against him.

Over the past two months, Young has failed to show up for his scheduled court hearings three times, but his lawyer has been able to get him excused, citing psychiatric treatment that Young was reportedly undergoing. But today was the last straw, and a California judge revoked his bail and issued an arrest warrant.

Nobody really knows what's wrong with Titus Young. His family believes it stems from head trauma, though Robert Klemko's deep dive into the mystery points to a serious mental illness. One for which Young has refused help from both the league and loved ones, and refuses to take medication. Whatever it is, his problems seem bound to get worse before they get better.

Different though this kid is having major mental problems. I can't say oh typical NFL nutjob when he clearly has conditions that would impact anyone. He just happens to be in the spotlight.

Seahawks placed WR Percy Harvin on the reserve/PUP list.
He's technically eligible to return in Week 7, although Harvin is not due back until Thanksgiving at soonest. When Harvin does make his late-season return -- assuming he does -- the Seahawks are unlikely to let him handle his usual receiving and return-game workloads. Harvin is only worth rostering in keeper, Dynasty, and extremely deep re-draft leagues.

There are so many sad stories of former NFL veterans in terrible physical condition, and all the stories are important.

When fans complain about the game becoming too soft, they must be ignorant of the stories of former players who can't live a normal life in retirement at a relatively young age. When they speak with scorn about the league trying to put in rules to protect players from injuries, they aren't considering what someone like former Cincinnati linebacker Reggie Williams goes through on a daily basis.

Williams, who played with the Bengals from 1976-89, started two Super Bowls and is the team's all-time leader among linebackers in most categories including tackles, has had 24 surgeries on his right knee, which looks almost unrecognizable. According to an enlightening story by the Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Daugherty, Williams is fighting off amputation of his right leg, which doctors tell him is inevitable. His right leg is almost three inches shorter than his left leg after all the injuries.

Here is what Williams' knee looks like after 24 surgeries, in a photo from the Enquirer's story. It's not pretty:

The story, which is a great read and worth the time if you have any compassion for the men who entertain us on Sundays in the fall, details the difficulty Williams has in his day-to-day life.

He hasn't had a meal at home in more than two years because he can't be on his feet very long to cook, the Enquirer said. His house during the summer is between 85 and 90 degrees because he can't use air conditioning, or his knee feels worse. He has had the surgeries, the first coming in 1979, knee replacements and multiple infections (in 2008 he was diagnosed with the bone infection osteomyelitis, which was not identified for two years) that have left his right leg 2 5/8 inches shorter than the other. He has no insurance to cover the pre-existing condition, so he pays for his own rehabilitation. He has battled the NFL and the Bengals for years over disability benefits. The Dartmouth-educated Williams felt the need to retire from a vice president job at Disney in 2007, at age 53, to dedicate himself to rehabilitation and saving his leg, the Enquirer story said.

This is what 14 NFL seasons and 206 games can do to a man.

You can change the login. Once you log in go into settings and you can change the email and password to your email and password of choice.
