Manning's passer rating was hurt by his completion percentage and yards per attempt. To have a perfect passer rating you must complete 77.5% of passes, and Manning completed 64%, and must have at least 12.5 yards per attempt, and Manning had 11 yards per attempt.

Ditto, & I freaking sat J. Thomas in favor of Tony Gonzalez. If he gives me half of what Thomas would have, I'll be happy.

That was more Brady than Wes.

That is probably the Buffalo Bill fan in me.

I'm a fan of Welker and have him on my fantasy team. I understand why New England let Welker go, as they wanted to go with someone younger and his personality clashed with Belichick, but I wish him nothing but the best except when he faces the Pats. Still have no idea what he was doing on that punt though, trying to fair catch a ball at the 2.

I like Welker, too, but yeah he shouldn't have tried to field that one. But maybe new team, first game, so trying to overachieve?

On another note, for you guys with the Madden NFL Sunday Ticket, looks like it's operational now. I just logged in, and Sunday's games are listed and clickable, though obviously nothing is playing so it just gives a message that the feed will start an hour before the respective game. You can navigate around different options, change to full screen and resolution, etc. There's a video that plays which I tested out at "High" resolution setting. The meter says I'm getting full quality, but at best it's Standard Def or a DVD with mid-quality encoding, and there's noticeable compression. I don't know if that's necessarily an indicator of how games will actually look, but if it is it's not a deal breaker for me as I'll be watching on a 27" monitor from my PC which is also equipped with Dolby Digital Live for 5.1 upconversion.

If Sunday couldn't come any sooner before, I'm gonna have to keep myself even more busy now until then!

Seriously though, Worst possible outcome for my Ravens. Not only losing on the road. But losing Oher and Jacoby Jones. Gonan be a rough year having already lost Pitta.
It was already too much to overcome the loss of Lewis, Reed, Ellerbe, Kruger, Pollard, Williams, Birk, and Boldin. That's eight starters from the Super Bowl team. Am I missing someone else? Either way, that's too many good players gone for the Ravens to be good. How the hell all these " experts" didn't see this one coming is beyond me. Some of them said the Ravens would be even better and win their division again. I wonder if they're still that stupid after last night.

You can't expect to lose that many players and still be a good team. Yea, they added Canty, Dumervil, Huff, and drafted Elam. But outside of Dumervil, they don't really have a better player coming in to fill the voids.

Flacco just isn't very good. I don't care what he did in the playoffs... He doesn't do that consistently enough.

At least your team's not playing Sunday night, wish they'd stop doing SNF but I know they won't due to the ratings.

Weather matters little. It's the NFL, so of course it still managed to get huge numbers.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/broncos...1026--nfl.html

Quote:
NBC got a 16.2 overnight Nielsen rating for Thursday night's NFL opener in which the Denver Broncos routed the Baltimore Ravens 49-27, according to Sports Business Daily.

The rating was down two percent from last year's Dallas Cowboys-New York Giants matchup that kicked off the 2012 season. That game aired on a Wednesday night because of a conflict with the Democratic National Convention.

Thursday's game was also down six percent from the 2011 season opener between the New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers. That game, which picked up a 17.2 overnight, was also aired on a Thursday.

Despite that, NBC still won the primetime ratings battle for the night. The game received the best Thursday primetime overnight for any program on any network since the 2012 Olympics.

The game earned a 43.9 local rating in Denver and a 37.6 rating in Baltimore.

The small dropoff in ratings from the 2012 opener probably had to do with the teams playing more than the weather/delays. The Cowboys and Giants have larger fan bases.
