Tre Mason has declared for the draft. He's projected as a mid round pick.

Idzik needs to work this guy out. He'd make a good combo with Ivory.

You never know how much a coach is In charge even now I wonder how much control he'll really have. So I wouldn't put all his play calling just on him. Just like shanny sr. Overstepped Kyle.

I'm just taking the wait and see approach, but I'm very skeptical.

Yeah I don't get it either. Jimmy's longevity comes into play. His win % is not great and the only HOF coaches that have comparable numbers to him are :

Jimmy Johnson 80-64 .556, 9-4 playoff record, 2 SB titles

Weeb Ewbank 130-129-7 . 502 4-1 playoff record, 1 SB title
Sid Gilman 122-99-7 .552 1-5 playoff record, no titles
Hank Stram 131-97-10 .575 5-3 playoff record, 1 SB title
Marv Levy 143-112 .561 11-8 playoff record, 4 SB appearances, no titles and he beat the man twice in the SB. Beat him like he stole something I say.

All the other HOF coaches Noll, Shula, Lombardi, etc are the the no brainer greats. Madden is another example of a short career but his win % is so good that is a no brainer as well.

In 1990 the playoffs expanded to 12 teams. An interesting stat about the divisional playoff round:

From 1990-2004 the home team won 81.7% of the divisional round games.
From 2005-2012 the home team won 56.3% of the divisional round games.

That's a huge drop with no real explanation. Nothing major changed around that time, but it shows that home field isn't the huge advantage it used to be.

I think its like that article mentions that teams have now adjusted to salary cap contracts & player talent is more spread around.

Its also why i like the 14 team playoff format cause if all these 5 & 6 seeds are & have hopes of winning so could a 7.

It just shows the way the league has been going. More 10-6, 11-5, 9-7 type teams are going deep in the playoffs, getting to the Super Bowl and winning the Super Bowl. You rarely saw this in the 70s, 80s, 90s. The teams are so close and evenly matched now.

Knew this would happen

Quote:
Last Saturday night prior to the San Francisco-Green Bay game, wrestling legend Ric Flair made the trek to frozen Appleton, Wisconsin to light a fire under the frozen tails of the 49ers.

Fun, right? Productive, right? (San Fran did win, after all.) Harmless, right? Not according to some psychopathic fans of the Carolina Panthers, San Francisco's next opponent. See, Flair makes his home in Charlotte, and some Panthers fans didn't take kindly to him consorting with the enemy.

"We know fans are passionate about their teams, but some of the choice language we have been receiving is scaring off our interns," said Melinda Morris Zanoni, Flair's agent.

"What can I say?" Flair said through his publicist. "I've always been a very good heel!" Just to be safe, though, he won't be attending Sunday's game. The line between wrestling and reality is often a little too blurry for some to see well.

In other words, if you're a Panthers fan firing death threats at a professional wrestler because he said some kind words about another football team, it's really time to reconsider your life choices. You're making everybody else look bad.

Ric Flair no longer lives in Charlotte, he lives in Atlanta. There is a warrant out for his arrest in Charlotte for contempt of court due to unpaid child support and other financial obligations, so if he set foot in North Carolina he could be jailed immediately.

We're probably in the minority, but I would also like 1 more playoff team/conference. Not a big fan of the bye week. Saturday and Sunday Night Football on the Wildcard weekend... (No Monday night please)
