I'll admit on draft night this is exactly how I imagined things went when Manziel was still on the board when Dallas was about to make their pick. You just know Jerry was going to take Manziel had he not been restrained.

In an excerpt from Manziel Mania, a new book from Jim Dent, we are given a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the Cowboys' 2014 draft. When Dallas came on the clock with the 16th pick in the first round, Ol' Jerry was apparently thiiiiiis close to handing Johnny Manziel's draft card up the podium, but was stopped by his own son. From the Dallas Morning News:

"I could just see Jones grabbing Manziel with the 16th choice of the first round," Dent writes. "I wrote a book about Jerry Jones in 1995 titled 'King of the Cowboys.' I know the Boss Hog. I knew that Jones' hands were shaking when the Cowboys went on the clock with Manziel still on the board. I could envision Jones scribbling the name of Johnny Manziel on the draft card. Indeed, all of these things happened.

"As it turned out, Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones had snatched the Manziel card straight out of his dad's hand. Otherwise, Jerry would have drafted him and JFF would have sat for at least three years behind Tony Romo."

It's a true testament to the skill and quality of Johnny Bustball that there's a very real chance he will be riding the bench behind Brian Hoyer for at least the first month of the season.

really think they will change? Becasue i don't. New NFL is here to stay

This redskins game is on pace for 35 flags tonight. It might not be this bad in season...But since the NFL will be tell refs to keep the calls the same..don't expect a huge change

It's humorous to me that when they re-show that Manziel flip off, they are blurring out the top of the hand and the finger.

What does that accomplish? What, exactly, could he be doing that isn't that gesture with that part of the hand?

Browns announce Brian Hoyer is their starting QB

The Browns first three games are at Pittsburgh followed by home games versus New Orleans and Baltimore followed by a week four bye. If they start 0-3 I could definitely seeing them starting Manziel after the bye.

They'd probably go 0-3 with Hoyer or Manziel. LeBeau would kill Johnny.

I hope they don't switch to Johnny after the bye because we play them week 5. I just get the feeling he'd destroy us in his debut, and I wouldn't hear the end of it.
