Terrible news about John Abraham. He left the Cardinals after a concussion during Monday's game.

Quote:
Abraham is suffering from severe memory loss and has been for well over a year, sources said. Abraham believes he needs to take time to get well.

I'd be amazed if Goodell were fired over this.

Why would he give Rice a pass, if he saw the entire video? Say what you want about The Commish, but stupid he ain't!

This is what a teammate said about rice. What makes you think rice told the Goodell the truth.

"One reason the locker room stood behind Rice was because Rice gave them the impression that he was defending himself from her"

Other than the stupid Gordon suspension, I haven't had a problem with him. But he's royally screwed this entire situation up.

Just going off stuff Mort and Schefter have been saying over the last few days. Schefter said his source said that seeing it made it a lot more real than just hearing it.

I think you are jumping to conclusions, basing your opinion on rumor and hearsay. If what you say is true, and can be proved, he will find himself in hot water. But I don't buy it, it just doesn't add up why he would act in such a manner. He had nothing to gain.

Lol I'm a goodell hater too, but asking for his job cause he didn't illegally acquire a video, lets be real. If he did do it, people would be calling for his head cause of abuse of power and not respecting the legal process and what not.

Hey Beefbowl.

He wasn't defending himself. It was quick thinking on his part to tell his teammates that.
He clearly spit in her face outside of the elevator and she slapped at him.
Then, once inside the elevator, he spit in her face again and as she approached him, he struck her twice, knocking her unconscious and causing her to hit her head on the hand rail.
No self-defense involved in this except by her.

Now they're saying the video was sent to the NFL.

My mind was blown after I read Goodell earned 44 million last year.

Think about this for a second, folks....IF the full video was sent to the NFL, what does the NFL(Goodell) possibly have to gain by giving Rice a slap on wrist? Wheras they have a whole lot to lose if it backfires.

It seems reasonable to me that, initially, the NFL saw an edited version of the video, Rice got his court ruling, and the NFL acted accordingly.
Then the NFL received the full video and banished Rice indefinitely.
So yeah, the NFL is not off bribing casino security guards for copies of the video, like TMZ obviously would do.
Why would the NFL want to "pretend" they didn't see the video? Is Ray Rice some billionaire partner to the league, and they didn't want to piss him off?
C'mon...way too much spin going on here.

I don't advocate domestic abuse on any level but I also feel like this entire thing is being elevated to unreasonable heights.

Stallworth killed a man while drunk and came back into the league. Where was this immense scrutiny back then?

Good point.
Methinks a lot of people are using the Ray Rice incident as a soapbox.

Edit: and I don't mean in this forum, but all over soceity.

I think the whole thing has become overblown. People saying the NFL has a domestic violence problem are off their rockers. What the NFL really has is outdated policies for punishment. And they're correcting it with the harsher domestic violence penalties and also talking about making changes to the drug policy.

He spent time in jail, did a shit-ton of community service, and was suspended for a full season.

Ray Rice did counseling and got 2 games.

It just seems wierd that if the nfl saw it that they would deny it knowing its 2014 not 1926 so theres always a papertrail back.

Something just seems off.

24 days in jail is such a joke. DUI punishments in this country are ridiculous and that bastard should had paid for his stupidity. He got off so easy like so many others do in that situation.

Rice should had been suspended for a season automatically when this incident first took place.

I'm not saying the Stallworth sentence was perfect, but at least something was done to him. Rice wasn't even a slap on the wrist.
