Nice try about the illegally not requiring it, New Jersey State prosecutor said the NFL was well within there right to ask for the casino to give them the tapes, and o btw it would not be breaking any laws in doing so. The NFL screwed up bad on this one Goodell deserves to be fired end of discussion. Either 1 of 2 things happened either he saw the tape then lied about it or they got the tape and he threw it away then lied about it. I find it very hard to believe that he was that out of touch especially with EMAIL AND Voice Mail confirmation the tape was recived.

Not entirely accurate. I believe the NFL, like any big business is prone to do with a high profile employee, was wait for the leagal system to play out. The prosecuter is the one that only fought for a slap on the wrist. I'm sure that was plenty good for the NFL, so they suspended Rice 2 games.
So if anyone is going to lose their job, in addition to Rice, it's the prosecutor who totally dropped the ball.

This whole thing is being blown so incredibly out of proportion. What Ray Rice did was very wrong, but he is being punished very severely. Roger Goodell should not lose his job, and the NFL does not have any domestic abuse problems. If people want to climb on their soapboxes about a just cause, they need to look at other professional sports leagues. At least the NFL suspends their players when they break the law.

Are you saying he is being punished too severely or his punishment is very severe and seems about right for what happened?

I'm in agreement that 2 games was beyond lenient.

I'm just saying it feels like this entire issue in general is being overblown.

They made a mistake, they're taking the necessary actions to correct it and now everybody wants Goodell's head on a platter before we even have all of the facts sorted out. It's just the whole TMZ/mob mentality. Snap reactions without thinking. I want the truth, but it's like some of these people are just witch hunting after each tidbit is leaked.

If the league suspends somebody for 2 games and then sees evidence that either they didn't try to get or got previously and ignored, and feels like they have to increase the suspension to at least 1 year, heads need to roll. That's not acceptable, whether due to not trying (which Goodell has admitted they never contacted Revel because it would be illegal for them to turn over the video, which the NJ ADA has said is not true), burying the tape or "lack of institutional control" due to the tape not being passed up to Goodell. And in all of those cases, Goodell is to blame.

If this story that they did indeed receive the tape in April holds up it doesn't seem like Rice's indefinite suspension will stand.

That's what my wife said when she saw it. It looked liked it but I wasn't completely sure. It was also reported that she did it as well. Hmm well if he spit on her before she ever touched him then he's 100% completely in the wrong from a legality standpoint. That means he assaulted her and he should have received a sentence instead of receiving PTI, which essentially means that the case will be dismissed.

I would say the punishment is about right at this point. But the way people are discussing and pushing this is way too much. Frankly, I'm getting really tired of hearing about Ray Rice. People have done much worse and still collected NFL paychecks.
