I don't know how his relationship with the mom is but this could be a case of the mom coaching the child what to say. Not saying that is what happened but who really knows.
Ya, and like I said Peterson was indicted in Texas. Being indicted is very easy in our justice system. Actually getting convicted of child abuse in the deep south for something that (seems to be) unintentional is going to be very hard for the prosecution. I'll bet at most Peterson gets a plea deal that includes something like anger management and maybe brief probation. Of course the NFL is probably going to come down harder.

Yeah with everything that has happened this year I can't see the NFL being lenient.

Considering how the NFL has so much horrible PR these days, I wouldn't be surprised to see AP miss most of the season.

Doubt it. He'll have a court date in the off season and get suspended next season if any.

You're calling him negligent because he wasn't informed he had a kid for almost 2 years and then the boyfriend of the mother murdered the child? How is any of that Petersen's fault?

Some people may disagree but he knew about the child at least 2 months before the child died and he never met the kid. That's at least a bit negligent if you ask me, especially if you're trying to make up for lost time.

You can't blame ANY of that on him.

Well maybe not but it's probably the kind of thing lawyers will use against him when it's time for his domestic abuse hearing.

I will say one thing Peterson has in his favor is that this happened in Texas. Getting someone convicted by jury of child abuse in the south isn't as easy as it would be in other parts of the country.
I think that AP is not an evil man. I do think that he is an incompetent disciplinarian.

I got switched once, when I was 14, by my mother. On the back of my legs, no where near my scrotum of buttocks. It stung like hell. The switching didn't last long, and the red marks were gone by the next day. There was no bleeding and no bruises.

The humiliating thing was that she had me go and pick the switch. Being a novice, I wrongly chose the thinner switch over a thicker switch. The thinner switch has much more recoil than a thicker switch.

For a 4 year old, I found disciplining my nephews with "Time-Outs" inflicted enough psychological pain to straighten them out... for the evening.

AP needs to stay away from physical punishment, as he seems pretty incompetent about it. AP needs training on effective and legal ways to discipline children.

Wait a minute... negligent how? Some other guy killed his kid. There's no evidence to suggest Peterson knew his kid was being abused.

Wasn't sure if anyone mentioned this, earlier in the thread, but one of the sports morning radio shows was talking about how Terrell Suggs, to keep the Ravens focused on the game last night, printed out T-shirt that had a picture of Tomlin stepping in the way of Jacoby Jones, in last year's game.
I'll be honest, I've never been a big fan of Suggs, but that's a pretty badass move. Which obviously paid off, in the win.

So because it happens more makes it worse?

Hope it wasn't a ppr league... if it was you made a rash and foolish decision.

Perhaps? I'd like to know more, but from all appearances it doesn't appear AP was ever going to win father of the year awards.

I had seen that. Not the first time he has had fun with his shirt selection.

Ouchy! Of course Pittsburgh can just come back with the number 6, which would, pretty much, end any debate, I would imagine.

Hope my stashing of him, pays off for a late season run.
Or could try and trade him? I guess the market could get better as the season progresses and other teams lose players.
Of course all this is predicated on the one simple fact that he doesn't get into any type of trouble!
