Wow dude..

What is this 'rule'? and please talk about the specific of how it was enforced in the play in question.

Is this really happening? I can't explain it more than I have. If you still haven't understood, then you are beyond my help.

Here ya go chief:

Quote:
Chris Burke pulled the exact language from Rule 4, Section 5, Article 1: "The Referee shall suspend play while the ball is dead and declare a charged team timeout upon the request for a timeout by the head coach or any player (not a substitute) to an official."

But the referee, not seeing who was yelling for a timeout, blew his whistle, charging the timeout.

The Jets and Packers are each 1-1.

No... believe me.. you are WAY behind ANY help.

Simple question, in the play that happened.. how should have the ref reacted when he heard the TO behind him? Split second decision...

I'm not a fan of either team but I watched it since I live out here in Green Bay (long time Panthers fan, sue me) ... but the Jets got royally screwed over on that one. Even my girlfriend (who is a die-hard Packers fan) was objective about it, saying she wouldn't want that to happen to any team, regardless of who it was.

Of course, the Jets pretty much gave the game away by letting the Packers get back into it, heck the Jets were up 21-3 at one point. But that Jets TD would have at least tied up the game and kept it interesting towards the end. Oh well ...

There ya go. There is the rule. Can you explain to me how the ref properly enforced this rule?

If they did a review and the ref knew the rule was that the HC is the only one allowed to call TO (On the sidelines) maybe they could have done a "correction"? They do it all the time for penalties

I didn't watch the game.. only saw brief highlights.

The only way I would agree with WW is if the Ref knew it was Marty calling the TO, then they might have a point. But even if that was so, plays get mistakenly called off quite frequently.

Only a blind Phins fan can not understand this.

And you are right. Jets gave up 31 so they have to shoulder a decent amount of this loss. That INT at the end of the 1st half was the turning point.

Not if it's a dead ball, which is what they called it. That's like when a player picks up a fumble, but a whistle ends the play saying down by contact, and the player goes to score a TD. They only challenge if it is a fumble. They can't challenge and get the points that are associated with that fumble.

But they changed the rule a few years back, to allow the coach on the sideline to call a timeout.

I guess I think your objection of them getting "hosed" is silly because it was created by your own coaching staff. Man up, if it wasn't for Marty calling the TO it would have counted.

Huh, not it put it on the jest because your harley riding OC called a bad timeout.

I have Cobb in my FFL so I was happy he did well.

Die-hard Packers fan here as well and I know (As well as your GF) what it feels like for a ref to blown a call (Failmary).

Again, how should the ref know who called the TO? Should they devise a complicated voice recognition system?

What does that have to do with the price of beans? Nothing. There is the rule. Tell me how they properly enforced it. You cannot because they did not. That's it. End of story. Game set match. The Jets got hosed on that call to tie the game. The Jets however gave up a ton of yards to Rodgers and 31 points. The D has to shoulder that loss as well as the refs.

I've already answered it... He hears TO being called look to your left 6 in and see if it is the head coach calling it. It's not rocket science. Literally would take 2 seconds to do so.

I swear I feel like I'm communicating with this guy
