Oh come on. You can't blame this one on Jones.

Every analyst said that the Cowboys made a great move. Everybody thought Claiborne was the real deal coming out of college.

When you're batting as poorly as Jones is over the last 2 decades, you most certainly can blame him.
What was Claiborne's wonderlic score again? 4? He "blew off the test" because "nothing on the test that came with football". There's your red flag right there.
Gone are the days of being a dominant player on physical skill alone. In today's NFL you have to have the mental focus as well, regardless of position.

Of course Claiborne might land on another team and revive his abysmal career, but that remains to be seen.

I have to agree. It was a good pick at the time. He looked like he was going to be good. It just didn't pan out.

At the time the pick was fantastic. But like anything there are no guarantees when drafting its all a gamble from pick 1-255

Example the 2000 Draft

Chad Pennington, Marshall - Drafted by the New York Jets in Round 1, Pick 18.
Giovanni Carmazzi, Hofstra - Drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in Round 3, Pick 65.
Chris Redman, Louisville - Drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in Round 3, Pick 75.
Tee Martin, Tennessee - Drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in Round 5, Pick 163.
Marc Bulger, West Virginia - Drafted by the New Orleans Saints in Round 6, Pick 168.
Spergon Wynn, SW Texas State - Drafted by the Cleveland Browns in Round 6, Pick 183.
Tom Brady, Michigan - Drafted by New England Patriots in Round 6, Pick 199.

This guy alleged to have killed AP's son and was granted bail. He then allegedly assaulted a woman and has once again been granted bail. What the heck is wrong with this judge?

Quote:
Joseph Patterson, the South Dakota man accused of killing Tyrese Ruffin, Adrian Peterson's 2-year-old biological son last October, is currently free after posting a $2 million bond on charges that he assaulted Ruffin's mother. This is the second time in under a year that he's bonded out on charges that could bring life in prison. How does this happen?

Patterson's father posted his first bond last October, $750,000 to spring him after he was charged with Ruffin's murder. Then, on June 25, Patterson allegedly went to the residence of Ann Doohen, Ruffin's mother, and choked her twice, once to the point of unconsciousness. Patterson was charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, interference with emergency communication and injury to property.

Last Friday, Patterson's father once again posted his son's bond. So, despite violating the terms of his first bond, despite a history of previous child beatings, Patterson is once again free until his scheduled jury trial.

South Dakota's laws gave the court the opportunity to prevent Doohen's assault. Section 23A-43-2, emphasis mine:

Release of defendant on personal recognizance or unsecured bond—Exceptions. Except for a defendant charged with an offense punishable by death or a defendant who is currently released on personal recognizance bond, a defendant shall, at his appearance before a committing magistrate or court be ordered released pending trial on his personal recognizance or upon the execution of an unsecured appearance bond in an amount specified by the committing magistrate or court, unless the magistrate or court determines in the exercise of his discretion, that such a release will not reasonably assure the appearance of the defendant as required or that the defendant may pose a danger to any other person or to the community.

Just because he could complete a 60 yard pass from his knees? That doesn't mean someone will be a good QB.

Haha! I also hear he was quite the playbook study.
If rumor holds true, the coaching staff gave Russell dvds that had the playbook on them, to take home and study. The next they asked him about it, and he said they looked great and he couldn't wait to start practicing them.

Only the dvds were blank.

Yeah, Claiborne was an Aaron Curry kind of first round pick.... not a Tim Tebow kind of first round pick. Sometimes players just don't have what it takes once they reach the next level.

Well they are the Raiders. How do you know that blank DVD wasn't their playbook?

Accuser says Jerry Jones paid her to keep silent

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...lent/16181119/

DALLAS (AP) — An Oklahoma woman says in a lawsuit that Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones paid her for at least four years to prevent her from reporting an alleged sexual assault.

Jana Weckerly's attorney, Thomas Bowers, filed an updated lawsuit Monday that accuses Jones of forcibly touching Weckerly's genitals and kissing her on the lips without her consent more than 5 years ago, then bullying her into not reporting the alleged attack. The lawsuit seeks more than $1 million in damages.

Jones has denied Weckerly's allegations and the Cowboys on Wednesday referred to an earlier statement from Jones attorney Levi McCathern calling the claims "completely false."

"This is nothing more than an attempt to embarrass and extort Jerry Jones," McCathern said in the statement made immediately after the lawsuit was initially filed Sept. 8.

Bowers did not return a phone message Wednesday afternoon. Both sides have cited a gag order issued in the case since the suit was first filed as reason for declining additional comment.

The updated version of the lawsuit filed this week, parts of which were blacked out when publicly released per a judge's order, claims Jones and the Cowboys sent money to Weckerly's bank account from 2009 until at least July 2013. The lawsuit says her bank records can prove the payments occurred, though no records are included in her court filing.

She also accused Jones, the Cowboys and a longtime lawyer for Jones of taking her cell phone's memory card, which contained photos that were then leaked and posted on the Internet.

A hearing on Friday is expected to address whether the lawsuit was filed too late due to a 5-year statute of limitations.

Weckerly's updated lawsuit accuses Jones of working to keep her from reporting the assault until after the statute of limitations expired.

A Dallas police spokesman on Wednesday said he could not confirm whether an assault was reported to police, citing the department's policies on keeping any such reports confidential if they are filed. The lawsuit does not say where the alleged assault occurred or on what date.

I saw it advertised, but missed it.
I'm assuming they were talking about the name change?
