Bad car accidents, even if no injury is immediately apparent can still cause a lot of problems years from now. I went through a truck rollover on the interstate about 7 years ago at a high rate of speed. Went to the hospital as a precaution as I seemed to barely have a scratch on me and tests were fine. Then about 3 years ago I started getting progressively worse back pain (stemming from that accident) to the point I now have to regularly see a doctor about it.

Good for Jay Glazer. Nice to see someone call out ESPN for their habit of stealing reports from other reporters and not citing the source.

http://deadspin.com/jay-glazer-calls...nzi-1668855467

Quote:
Jay Glazer of Fox Sports broke the news that Johnny Manziel would replace Brian Hoyer as the Browns' quarterback this weekend. Naturally, ESPN took that report and "sourced" all over it.

Glazer's tweets:

Breaking: Johnny Manziel and Brian Hoyer have been informed that Manziel will in fact be the starter this week. #Scoopage

— Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer) December 9, 2014

Again i'm reporting that Johnny Manziel has been informed he is starting this week. #Scoopage

— Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer) December 9, 2014

On SportsCenter, the switch to Manziel was reported without crediting Glazer. In the story on ESPN.com, Fox Sports isn't mentioned until the third paragraph. Here's how that report starts out:

Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel will make his first career start this weekend against the Cincinnati Bengals, sources confirmed to ESPN.

The Browns informed Manziel and Brian Hoyer, who has started Cleveland's first 13 games this season, of their decision, sources confirmed.

The third paragraph acknowledges that Fox Sports reported it earlier today. How generous.

Glazer vented about the scoop-stealing, and said one of Fox's PR people tried to find out exactly who at ESPN landed their story, though to no avail:

Haha an all-time low from @ESPN on their constant thievery of other's work. FOX PR guy calls them to call BS on their claim they had Manziel scoop. News desk guy @sportscenter tells him their reporter didn't want to be identified. Huh? What reporter doesn't want credit for hard work paying off? Lying b*stards. Haha

Cam Newton has back fractures. Sounds fairly minor but at least he was smart enough not to refuse going to the hospital.

It does sound like something the Panthers wouldn't want their QB to be playing with....

They should shut him down for the season.

Probably so. Carolina's season is long gone anyway. May as well shut him down.

Sounds like it's the same thing that Romo had and he only missed a game.

Clowney out of action for 9 months. So.... bust?

http://deadspin.com/jadeveon-clowney...-kn-1669094828

Quote:
Houston Texans 2014 number one overall draft pick Jadeveon Clowney will be out for approximately nine months after undergoing microfracture knee surgery yesterday, according to Adam Schefter. Professional athletes undergoing microfracture knee surgery have had mixed results, with some (Marques Colston) seeming to recover completely and others (Greg Oden) never being effective players again.

The knee surgery finally ends Clowney's injury-filled and disappointing rookie season, which never really got going. He suffered concussion-like symptoms and sat out half the preseason, and then tore his meniscus during the first game of the season and missed the next six. He finally returned to the football field but was never really healthy, missing a few more games with knee problems that eventually ended his season, and necessitated the microfracture surgery. Clowney ends his season having racked up just seven tackles, and no sacks.

If the nine month estimate comes true Clowney should be able to play a big chunk of the 2015 season, but you never want to hear the word "microfracture" associated with one of your team's players.

Ehh, possibly. Honestly I've been quite disappointed with Bortles's progress thus far. I know the team around him blows but the guy has the 2nd worst passer rating in the NFL and a terrible 10/16 TD/Int ratio. I still think he'll at least end up being decent long-term but I'm having a lot of trouble seeing a future star. But ya, with Houston he would have been in a much better situation.

I considered Mack to be the best defensive player in the draft, not Clowney.

If they were available, Mack and Carr would've been my picks for the Titans.

Barr and Bridgewater were my next choices for the first round. And in hindsight, we should've not traded back with the Eagles in the 2nd. We should've just taken Jordan Matthews. Now WR is a big need for us.

"NFL announces selling tickets again to the public for Super Bowl Media Day. Price stays same as last year $28.50."

Nobody works supply/demand better than the NFL.

Other than possibly autograph seekers, who would want to go to that?

While visiting a children's hospital, Orlando Scandrick played some Madden with the kids. He went for 2 after scoring a TD while winning, and also did a surprise onside kick on the kid.

The 631-page transcript of the Ray Rice appeal hearing was obtained by ESPN, and it makes Roger Goodell look terrible. Apparently Roger Goodell lied (or at best was ignorant of the truth) when he told the owners in a September 10 memo to owners that league investigators had tried to get the Ray Rice security cam video from police:

Quote:
But one day before Goodell sent that memo, the league's lead investigator on the Rice matter had actually told the league's director of security that he had never requested the inside-casino elevator video from the one law enforcement agency that actually had it, the Atlantic City Police Department: "Again, I never spoke to anyone at the casino or the police department about the tape," NFL investigator Jim Buckley wrote in a Sept. 9 email to NFL executive vice president and chief security officer Jeffrey B. Miller. The last e-mail on the chain from Buckley says: "I never contacted anyone about the tape."
If the CEO of a publicly-traded company had botched something as bad as Goodell has botched the Ray Rice situation he would have been canned months ago. Fortunately for Goodell he only has to answer to the 32 team owners and so far they've stood by him. The information in the linked report is pretty damning though.

I'd like to see one of these matchups in the super bowl. They haven't played each other in recent memory.

Packers vs. Broncos
Seahawks vs. Patriots
