Well someone is going to get a good football coach. Best of luck to you, Doug. Thanks for the success.

How quickly things can change just had a team meeting Monday and wasn't given a heads up, but guess that's how this business works

Maybe you'll get Rex Ryan, and the Jets will get Marrone: "criss cross"

Bills and Bill Polian are very close to deal to make him president of football operations. I wonder if that is connected to Marrone not being offered an extension?

Doug Marrone - OT - Free Agent
Bills coach Doug Marrone has opted out of his contract.
He's now available to interview with any team. The Bills recent ownership change triggered a three-day opt-out clause in Marrone's contract. Marrone led Buffalo to a 9-7 record this season, but reportedly didn't have full support from the front office. His in-game coaching decisions and conservative approach had also come under scrutiny. The Jets are believed to have "strong interest" in Marrone to replace Rex Ryan, while Chargers OC Frank Reich is expected to be among Buffalo's top candidates.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports former Colts GM Bill Polian is expected to take over as Bills team president.
Polian would serve in a football czar role with Buffalo. Due to his commitments with ESPN, the move could be delayed until next month. If true, it leaves current team president Russ Brandon and GM Doug Whaley's roles up in the air. Polian has been out of the NFL since 2011 when he was fired by the Colts.

Good for him.

NFL Network's Mike Silver considers Texans director of college scouting Mike Maccagnan the "frontrunner" for the Jets' GM vacancy.
Quote:
Maccagnan is a favorite of Charley Casserly, who is a primary consultant in the Jets' general manager search. Maccagnan spent six years as a scout under Casserly in Washington, and followed him to the Texans in 2000. Our guess is Maccagnan will be the Jets' new GM and Doug Marrone will be their new coach.
hmm - that would be interesting

Frank Reich, Rex Ryan, and Jim Schwartz considered frontrunners for Bills job. Bill Cowher will get a phone call, but I don't think he is coming back to coaching. Although if he did, this would be the type job he would want. Small market with a lot of pieces in place.

Bill Cowher is old news now, waited too long to get back into coaching now. I think what Marrone did to the Bills is a slap in the face by not giving them a heads up, least to the front office.

I'm still thinking Rex to the Bears, I don't know why I have that feeling.
