The reason no one wants to sign with Jacksonville is because they haven't had success. Sure being a low end market doesn't help, but last time I checked New Orleans, Buffalo and GREEN BAY all have smaller markets than Jacksonville.

There is an even playing field. The Jags have the most to spend to get under the 2015 cap (might have been before FA started). I'ts not like MLB where there is an outrageous divide between the haves and have nots.

BTW i like your signing so far, you may have over payed a bit for Odrick but he is a solid player, and wish the Fins could have found a way to resign him, although not at that price.
Obviously a consistent winner is not going to have problems signing free agents. The Saints were winning but now the free agent pool is slimming down for them, plus theyre in cap space hell. Buffalo signs a lot of ridiculous contracts. Green Bay just has history plus theyre a consistent winner.

BTW the Jags are not my team. Was just using them for an example.

Teams like the Dolphins shouldn't have trouble bringing in big names but even they have to overpay because they dont consistently win. Its hard to put together a winning organization when all your good players leave.

If you can't beat them, change the rules.

Ravens and Colts sure have a lot in common.

It should be called the Ravens can't count rule.

It was funny seeing the Ravens twitter putting this out almost wording it as a "victory" for them.

The Jets who didnt even talk to Revis before he was released are about to get popped which is total BS. But the Dolphins are going to get away with obvious tampering no matter if Detroit intended to resign him or not. Saying you want a guy back is not tampering, Offering a contract of 114 million with 60 million Guaranteed 5 days before the 4pm Tuesday opening period clear cut tampering.
All the teams do it. It's a stupid rule. WTF are teams and agents supposed to talk about?? Look at Frank Gore, he changed his mind during that period. Either all discussion between Agents & Teams or don't. I agree it needs to be consistent for all teams. I think the Fins waited to make it look like it wasn't set in stone, I'm sure otherwise they would have liked to announce it earlier on.

It wasn't outright cheating, but certainly pushing the rules. If it were made somewhat obvious who is eligible and ineligible when they announced that is one thing. Good rule change.

The Saint will probably still win the South.

You dodged a bullet there!!! I actually admire Jags fans for sticking with them, better than annoying bandwagoners.

It depends on the player and the year. This year was a soft market for TE, which is why Clay got that ridiculous contract. Sometimes you have to overpay to fill a need. In fact every year teams are spending more on the high end FAs because the Cap continues to grow. I do agree that the consistently good franchises probably have an easier time luring free agents, but don't fool yourself $$$ is most players biggest concerns. I don't say that in a negative way, their window for earning is tight. One play away from never playing again, so I don't blame them in trying to get as much as they can.

Randy Gregory tested positive at the combine. How do you fail a drug test at the combine? You know the test is coming.

That's just moronic. There were already off the field concerns about him and teams may be leery to use a top 5 pick on him now that he's in the NFL's drug program. He's admitted to failing two drug tests in 2014 at Nebraska and was going to get kicked off the team if he failed another, but he admits he was still smoking weed during the season.

Good. Now whatever chance our team had at being dumb and drafting him at #2 just went out the window.

A lot of our fans have wanted Gregory... I view him as a very raw, boom or bust type player. I was never that impressed with him, to be honest, and I had a bad feeling about him. Would be a horrible pick at #2. I think he's a bust... and that was my opinion before the failed test.

If you throw in the fact that he's a pothead and a potential Josh Gordon who's too stubborn to change, he may fall hard come draft day. I have no personal problem with pot though... it's just the fact that the NFL takes this shit seriously that would make me want to avoid a player like that.

Now if he's sitting there at #33 when we pick, I'd take him in a heartbeat. But that's probably not likely.

Detroit didn't file tampering charges against the Fins.

Unless the Eagles give up Bradford and a few first round picks I think you guys are taking Mariota.

I think the Titans are bluffing with Mariota and just trying to get the Eagles or some other team to trade up with them.

I'm so back and forth on what we're going to do. Hard to know, but I think (and hope) the Mariota talk is just a smokescreen as well. Part of me has a bad feeling we will take him if we can't work out a trade though.

What I'd prefer:
1. Trade back
2. Winston
3. Williams

The Browns have already shown their hand by trying to give a 1st for Bradford. They'd be willing to trade for Mariota... it's just a matter of the price.

If the Bucs take Winston and this ludicrous trade rumor of Rivers coming here doesn't miraculously come to fruition, then I would just roll with Mettenberger as the starter and take a QB somewhere in rounds 2-4.

I can honestly say that there isn't a single statue/pocket QB who could've done well behind our OL. And that includes Peyton and Brady.

Remember how Brady looked against KC on that Monday night game? That's what our OL looked like every game...

So people can blame Mett all they want, but the fact of the matter is that as a rookie, only 9 months removed from ACL surgery, playing for the worst team, and passing behind the worst OL on the planet, he wasn't bad.

Mett's biggest flaw is that he holds onto the ball too long. Will that get better? I assume it will. If not, he will suck... especially with our OL. But the dude does have an NFL arm.

Our team sucks so bad that we'd be better off building around a QB before taking Mariota (who I still firmly believe is a bust in the waiting unless he ends up in the right system aka Philly). Whiz would be too stubborn and wouldn't design a good offense for him.

That.. is pretty much the exact response I was hoping to hear.
I'm not believing that Rivers jank, either. Mett can certainly handle a full year
