Pats fear 6-8 game suspension for Brady

Sources with the Patriots I have spoken with tell me they are fearful of a lengthy suspension, perhaps in the six- to eight-game range, for Brady in the aftermath of the Wells Report.

While this sounds reasonable at first glance, it isn't. Word is the first three times mentioned were with NFL Security, prior to Wells being involved. Then Wells interviewed him. He wanted to interview McNally again AFTER they received all of the text messages. No wonder why the Pats didn't want Wells to get another crack at him when they had in hand all the text messages.

The union won't let that happen. Once it gets to an independent arbitor, the suspension will get heavily reduced or thrown out altogether.

I say he gets 8 games, then is reduced to 4 after appeal, Goodell has no choice especially with how hard he was on Rice, AP, & Hardy

I'm going to take it a step further and if the NFL hands down a single quarter of punishment they then open themselves up to a defamation lawsuit which is why you see the terms "probably" and "most likely" used in the report a trillion times. Fact is the NFL has no proof and if they try and punish someone in the court of public opinion they will find themselves losing in a real court of law imo.

Citing "several key sources," the New York Daily News reports Roger Goodell is expected to announce Tom Brady's suspension next week.

The Daily News' Gary Myers writes, "it is no longer a matter of if the NFL commissioner will suspend Brady, but for how long he will suspend him." Myers reports there is "little doubt" Goodell considers Brady's ball-deflation tactics "a serious violation," and that the Ted Wells investigation shows "Brady cheated." Myers' "feeling" is Brady will be suspended for only two games, which would be good news after CSN New England reported the Patriots are "bracing" for a 6-8 game ban. Myers hints that Bill Belichick may also face discipline for "ignorance" in the matter, a la Sean Payton following the BountyGate scandal.

If i had a free $$ bet i would say 3 games.

Wouldve said only 2 but they play the jags in wk3 so does it really matter.

This way 1st game back is a national tv game against the cowboys.

I was thinking the same thing.
When I was checking their schedule, the first decent opponent they face is week 5 after their Bye week. The Cowboys would be a perfect game to come back to play first.

Unfortunately, unless they have more proof, I don't see how they can suspend him based on probable cause.

Almost everybody they suspend for on field actions are based on probability.... they suspend Suh for intentionally stomping on someone's hand when he claims it was an accident. They don't know 100% that it was intentional, but they can view the video and say it was probably intentional.

But the difference is that they had video of the incident and it was clear to anyone that isn't a Lions fan, that Suh clearly went out of his way to inflict injury to his opponent.
Unless I'm missing something, where is the video that clearly shows Tom Brady and his minions physically altering the footballs?

I've seen the video of Tom and his team completely annihilating the Colts and the Seahawks defenses with properly inflated balls.

Okay.... Greg Hardy is suspended for 10 games for probably attacking his girlfriend.

NFL can simply suspend him for conduct detrimental to league integrity plain and simple
