It's such a minor point to be fighting over with training camp 2 weeks away. In this century the only first round QB to be cut during his rookie deal and signed by another team was Brandon Weeden. When he was released he signed a minimum salary deal, and if Mariota was bad enough to get cut before his first deal was up he wouldn't get more than that, so both sides are fighting over very little money. I would expect one side to budge before training camp begins, but it's still silly that both sides are taking a hard line and risking a holdout over such a minor issue.
Yep. I'm right there with you. It's such a non-issue for both sides, but we (the Titans) are really looking stupid right now.

We take a guy #2 overall and now we want protection in case we need to cut him under his rookie deal (four years). This just doesn't happen. Don't draft a guy #2 overall if this is going to be an issue. You live and die with the pick. That's how it works.

We've been doing this shit for the past several years now. It's a Webster issue. I hate it. Sends the wrong message to our players and those around the league. I think this is the fourth year in a row we'll be the last to sign our 1st round pick over this same issue. Luckily all of them were signed in time for training camp, IIRC.

But at this point, the Titans really need to just sack up and sign him. It simply shouldn't take this long. Two weeks until training camp, so now would be nice, Webster.

The Patriots and franchise player/kicker Stephen Gostkowski agreed to a four-year deal worth $17.2 million. I'm a little surprised just because there hadn't been any stories about the sides even talking and he'd signed his tender so there wasn't a risk of a holdout.

A deal will get ironed out shortly. No way the Titans let camp start without their future.

Cowboys and Dez Bryant still have some minor points to work out. But if it's down to that, how does this not get done? Sense is it will.

Sounds like Dez Bryant is about to finalize a deal. No word on Damaryius Thomas getting a deal.

They offered about twelve million a year, he said no.

Early reports are Dez's deal will be 5-years, $70 million, with $45 million guaranteed. It clearly paid off for Dez to wait since the Cowboys previous offers were reportedly only including $20 million guaranteed.

Good for him I hate it when players threaten to stay away from work unless they get more money (I can't do that!), but I'm glad he got paid. Plus, he'll be up for another big contract when he's 31

So does this mean that "alleged" video of him knocking some lady out is false? Or maybe the Cowboys bought the tape from someone. Either way, they must not be too worried about it.

Looks like everyone other than JPP is getting a deal today:

It's funny, they were being accused of collusion so they gave their stars the same exact (almost) contract

Too much for Dez, especially when you consider that we have to pay a LOT of players over the next 2 seasons. Not to mention he acted like a child during these negotiations.

He deserves the $$ no question..if i was in the same boat i would have done the same thing. What happens if he snaps his leg game 2 and can never play again? Players want security even if it's a ton of $$ but i don't blame them sometimes especially when he's that good

Greg Hardy
Tyrone Crawford
Travis Frederick
Terrance Williams

Yes THIS is Romo's window and it probably doesn't go past 2017 but I'm not as sold on Dez as so many are. Romo makes a lot of receivers look better than they are and I believe he's done the same for Dez Bryant. The chemistry they have now is insane though and with our offensive line + Murray leaving, Dez should have quite a season. He better, I intend to bring up this new contract every time he underperforms. Lot of $ for a guy who usually won't touch the ball more than 5-6 times a game.

Your trippen, Dez is a top 3 WR in the league with or without Romo and that money is well deserved!

LOL that is not too much for Bryant. That's a pretty good deal for both him and the cowboys. He's not making Calvin Johnson money and for 5 years. We have money to pay other players And he didn't act like a child during negotiations. He negotiated during negotiations like most players or people in his position would act.

Complaining on Twitter and threatening to hold out despite supposedly loving the Cowboys as much as I do? Pfft, he got what he wanted in the end so I guess it's all water under the bridge now.
