Regardless, I'm just trying to figure out if you think the Lions lack mettle. Please answer the question and, while we're at it, let me know which team is your favorite in the NFL.
Danny White.
Roger Staubach.
Troy Aikman.

That's my favorite team. Quincy Carter and Tony Romo? Not so much. I still root for Dallas, even when they seem to be wasting their time and ours, and I'll continue to root for them, but Romo is proving Parcells right. You just can't trust the guy. Everything that makes him great also makes him unreliable. It's almost tragic.

Do I think the Lions lack mettle?

I know Aikman's been talking up the Lions this year, and the law of averages (to say nothing of that NFL parity nonsense) leads me to the conclusion that teams like the Lions and the Bengals have to come up for air eventually - but no, I didn't see a commanding performance from the Lions despite the hype. I saw Dallas collapse with an almost 30 point lead, I didn't see the Lions win.

What defense?

They have the same approach as New England this season of no defense it seems.

exactly!!!

but the Packers Def. has stepped up and made plays when necessary.....they just let the other teams get a false sense of hope.

the goal line play against New Orleans @ the end of the game.

Shields picking off Orton yesterday after Rodgers int.

Bishop stripping the ball as the TE was about to go into the end zone.

so they have made plays but their passing Def. is atrocious this year!!!

BUT……Woodson is as good as always and I’m really happy w/the way Burnett has been playing @ safety this year!!

3 int’s already this year and he almost had his 4th yesterday.

The Packers run def. has been fairly consistent up to this point though.

This will probably be one of the most watched, highest rated thanksgiving games ever, i cant wait ... Oh did i mention that Rodgers in an animal

So Tom Brady, guys got all the talent in the world, and is def one of the best qb's ever, but seriously, seems like everytime he was hit or even touched he would look back at ref wanting a flag.... Really?

Well yeah they made 2 rules just for him, the tuck rule(they say no but come on, that was the first time in the history of the sport they called it) and the ticky tack roughing the passer penalties.

Play calling and poor oline play. Romo's the man

Ha!

Anyways.....

About the "Ticky Tacky" roughing calls on QBs now....

I know most people are in the "let them play, this isn't gymnastics" camp on this one, but I offer a more feasible resolution.

I think it needs to be at the ref's discretion as to whether there was any intent, or ability to avoid 'unnecessary' contact to the head.

I was watching a game with Indy last year, and Peyton Manning dropped back to pass, and I can't recall who they were playing, but the defensive end or LB or whoever it was, blitzed, and Peyton didn't see it..... it was completely on his blind-side.

Well, rather than spearing Manning in back, the defensive player made a great move to wrap Manning with one hand around the waist, and reached OVER him with his other hand and swatted the ball out forcing the fumble.

I watched it, and thought WOW THAT WAS A GREAT PLAY..... then they said there was a penalty, and I thought "What the hell??? I don't even think Peyton was knocked down!"

Well, on the replay, you could see that his hand LIGHTLY RUBBED the top of Peyton's helmet on the move to try to get to the other side of him....

Peyton's head didn't move or anything..... Wasn't even as hard as a high-five, and it wasn't even really "direct" contact..... he just brushed the helmet on the way to the ball.

That kept the drive alive, and Indy scored..... I turned off the game, not because I was rooting against them, but I felt that at that moment the fate of the game's outcome was removed from the player's hands.

EDIT:

I think it was vs. the Eagles.

O-line led us to our second straight 100 yard game despite a lack of consistent rushing attempts and held the Lions' vaunted front 4 to 1 sack, they were not the reason we lost.

It takes two to tango my Star Wars friend. A lesser team would've failed to capitalize on Dallas' mistakes being down 24 on the road in the 2nd half (after being down 20 on the road last week in the 2nd half).

I'm done trying to convince a Dallas fan, though, that it's not always all about Dallas.

Yeah I was impressed, Darth, that the O-line did so well against Suh, et al., and Romo was just abusing Detroit's DBs (Houston especially) for the entire first half.

Part of the problem is play-calling, Dallas doesn't deviate from certain plays, making it easier to sit on routes and know where Romo is going with the ball. I blame some of that on Garrett and some of that on Romo, maybe both need to be replaced who knows?

I was always fascinated with late hit penalties on a QB when the LB was in mid-air before the ball was thrown, then the QB throws the ball. How is a LB in mid-air going to suddenly stop from hitting the QB? Airbrakes?

The play calling has been a big source of my frustration. Garrett leaves me scratching my head sometimes. I couldn't believe he called a pass play on 1st down up by 3 like that and down the middle of the field where all kinds of risky things can happen. The shotgun at the goal line staff at least sort of stopped yesterday. He actually makes some good play calls and then just starts getting risky with it. I don't know if that comes with experience of being a head coach but you would think being assistant head coach/OC he would have learned that by now. I do think Garrett needs to give up either all or some of the playcalling and have a full time OC so he can concentrate on just coaching the game.

As for Romo he can be as good as anyone in the league you saw that in the Jets game and Lions game for most of those games. The passes he was making in those games were only a few can make. He doesn't make a lot of mistakes but when he makes them they are enormous game changing plays and it seems like when he makes one it doesn't stop at just one it keeps snowballing into a series of mistakes. Sometimes he gets away with it(Buffalo 07) and we win and sometimes we lose like yesterday and in the Jets game.

At his Monday press conference, coach Leslie Frazier reiterated that Donovan McNabb will stay on as the Vikings' starting quarterback.
"We’re not at a point where we’re making a quarterback change," said Frazier, whose team is 0-4 and just fell to the previously winless Chiefs. McNabb's yards-per-attempt average of 6.1 is his worst since 2000, McNabb's first year as a starter. The Vikings haven't set him up for any chance at success, of course, with wideouts incapable of separating downfield and one of the worst O-Lines in football. They must not have much confidence in Christian Ponder yet.

Never been a fan, but I can see why they got her. She's still a huge draw. She's no Michael Jackson in popularity but she's as close as it gets.

interesting things so far

Bengals and Browns are both 2-2, .500 teams

Titans are a under the radar 3-1 team

NFC East, the projected cellar dwellers Giants and Redskins are both 3-1 with Redskins owning the tiebreaker

49ers still have Alex Smith at QB and are 3-1, coach Harbaugh should be coach of the year lmao
