They changed that last yr - certain games are on opposite network.

Example thanksgiving panthers/cowboys is on cbs.

Thanksgiving is a little different because of the dumbest handshake agreement made decades ago that ensures both Detriot and Dallas automatically play. So that can bind up the schedule seeing as each team only has two chances at an AFC team playing in their house.
But for regular Sunday 1/4pm games I didn't know that away games could jump between FOX and CBS.

Umm How is it a "Dumb" thing the Lions have been playing Thanksgiving since the 1930's for us its tradition, Dallas since the 70's, the late game was added so others could play on said day.

No it doesn't, it usually goes by the away team.
CBS covers AFC away
FOX covers NFC away

I'm assuming Buck/Aikmen will be doing the Phi/Det game as it's on FOX.

Fox has their #1 announcer crew calling the Thanksgiving game, and their #1 crew is Joe Buck and Troy Aikman.

Dallas has been playing Thanksgiving since 1966.
Because it's not fair to the rest of league. It's only tradition to, mostly, Det/Dal fans.
The only reason it's gone on, is because Dallas is such a ratings monster, that if the NFL tried to move Detroit(sorry but a team largely not competitive during this whole time) Detriot would cry foul. So there is that.
Sorry, it's one "tradition" that could easily be broken without missing a beat.

Ok! I never knew that.
I guess all these years of watching upwards of 8 games simultaneously, on the NFL mix channel, I overlook the actual network.

Except the rest of the league does play on Thursday nights. Once again If it wasn't for Detroit you wouldn't have football on Thanksgiving. Besides its given some of the best football blunders ever, just ask Steelers fans who are still screaming he called heads!

The Thanksgiving Thursday night game is so other teams can play. In your mind the tradition can be broken easy but thats not the case. Who would want to watch a Browns v Jaguars 12:30 Thanksgiving game. Det vs whoever always brings good ratings, same with Dallas.

I seem to remember having this exact same argument last year, the league is required to televise each team nationally 1x, Thanksgiving is the Lions requirement.

Each team is guaranteed a prime time game, not a nationally televised game. The Thanksgiving game does not fulfill that requirement for the Lions, and the Lions have 4 prime time games this year.

This whole afc X afc on fox and nfc X nfc on cbs has to do with the new thursday night package deal signed last year by cbs/nfl network. To be fair with both networks on the number of games showed each week.

In case anyone was wondering, the Panthers will lose their first game against Romo's Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

They're only 2 games back in the division though.

IMO they'll finish 8-8... That might be good enough in that division.

Yeah 8-8 is borderline, I'd give them 80% odds to win the division if they finish 9-7 since the G-Strings still have a tough schedule ahead of them.
