I don't think Chicago is as bad as a lot of people think. In fact, don't be surprised if they beat Detroit. The Bears will be contending for a wild card this year as long as they stay healthy.

That's the key. Most teams just don't have anyone capable of covering someone that big and that fast. If you look at 2 of the teams(KC, MIN) Detroit has faced so far, their best corners are 5'9". You either give up a huge height advantage or put a lesser corner on him. You lose either way.

People like to forget that the Bears were 11-5 and in the NFC Championship game less than a year ago. I would agree with you.

I'm a Lions fan that definitely isn't overlooking the Bears. I admit it - I'm nervous about Monday's game.

Cutler can be very good. He can also be very bad, it's a crapshoot with him.

And Stafford didn't play in that game at all. It was Drew Stanton, the Lions #3 QB that beat GB that day.
Thanksgiving day is going to be very interesting in Detroit my friend!!! the packers s/b able to handle the rest of your off. weapons w/the exception of Johnson....but i'd expect the packers to put woodson on him w/burnett over the top and see if they can disrupt him enough to force stafford into some bad throws.

and i totally forgot about the #3 QB last year in detroit, thanks for the painfull memories.

Benny is completely wrong!!!! It's not a team that "Decides to cover CJ"

You honestly don't think EVERY defense that plays them doesn't sit there in practice and discuss "How do we shut down CJ"

He's had crazy amounts of attention on him by defenses, yet he scores seemingly at will.... he's just that much bigger and more athletic than the DB's etc...

Megatron is a stud.... before Stafford and before Stafford 'settled in' he was just a great player without much help..... he's a full blown stud now though.
ouch beta....ouch!!! i'd expect any def. coordinator worth his salt would have some kind of plan to defend a team w/a Qb that consistently throws the ball to the same player.

if the bears def. can step up, they could def. give give teams fits toward the end of the season. or @ least cause either the lions or packers some headaches.

a team like the bears can never be under estimated w/what their def. is capable of.

Well I mean just like Montana and Rice, everyone else didn't suck its just they were that good together. Now I'm not saying they'll ever see that level, but the concept remains the same.

Al Davis, the longtime owner of the Oakland Raiders, has died at the age of 82, according to the team.

Oct 8, 2011 - Al Davis, the legendary owner of the Oakland Raiders, has died at the age of 82, according to Raiders.com. Davis first joined the Raiders as its head coach and general manager in 1963. He had been with the club ever since, save for a few months spent as the commissioner of the American Football League in 1966.

He first bought a stake in the Raiders in 1966, taking just a 10 percent share while taking over football operations. Having been the most powerful man in the organization since then, Davis has led the Raiders to three Super Bowl victories. Known as an enigmatic, offbeat manager, Davis had taken a lot of heat for the team's futility since the Raiders' last Super Bowl appearance in 2002. He took a great interest in the NFL Draft -- perhaps to a fault -- and had definite "types" that he liked, with speed being at the top of the list.

Davis, of course, broke Oakland's hearts by taking the Raiders to Los Angeles in 1982, but healed those wounds by bringing them back to the Bay in 1994.

The Raiders will have a statement on Davis later Saturday.

I had no Idea Al Davis was responsible for so much of what the NFL is today most of us focus on the 2003 era and beyond when he started doing weird things.

Yep despite all his crazyness these past few years, he was a big reason why we have the NFL we have today.

For the most part, successful teams don't disappear overnight. The Chiefs bad start isn't exactly shocking news. They were not a good team last year. They didn't beat anyone worth noting except maybe the week 1 win against the Chargers and they got killed in the Wild Card round. The Bears on the other hand had wins against DAL(w/Romo), GB, PHI, and NYJ plus a playoff win against SEA and a 7 point loss to the eventual Super Bowl champs in the NFC Championship game. The Chiefs bad start to the season isn't surprising, just like the Lions good start isn't surprising. The Lions lost a lot of close games last year. So yeah, last year does mean something.

Yeah, it will be interesting to see what happens in Oakland now. Who takes control of the team?
