I don't want that traitor back, I'd rather draft a workhorse and keep Run DMC as the speedy #2/3rd down back.

When Payton gets fired in NO, yes.

I'm hoping Brees shakes loose in free agency if Payton is no longer in NO. Not going to lie, but I'd make a play for Brees if I were the Jets. As good as Fitzmagic has been, Brees has won it all and could do so again with us. But I doubt they let him go.

Come on man, ride or die with Fitzy! He's has done a tremendous job both on and off the field galvanizing this team under Bowles's leadership. Keep him around next year, groom Petty under his wing and see if the kid has what it takes.

That's that great thing about Fitzy, he's a really good dude on and off the field. If I were you guys, I'd definitely want to lock him up for the next couple years. When you have a QB playing well in this league, you don't let him get away.

I'm sure the Eagles would love to shed themselves of Murray but the problem is his $7 million contract for next season is fully guaranteed and $2 million of his 2017 salary is guaranteed so the Eagles aren't going to cut him and it's unlikely any team would give up anything for him in a trade due to his contract. Whoever they bring in as coach will have to figure out a scheme to use Murray better

Garrett signed a 5-year, $30 million contract before this season and coaching contracts are fully guaranteed so firing Garrett would cost the Cowboys $24 million (less whatever he makes in other coaching jobs). That's in addition to the $7 million or so that Payton would want as coach, and Payton would want more control over personnel than Jerry would give. I've read Miami and San Diego as more likely destinations for Payton.

There's no way the Saints can keep him at his current cap number if they hope to compete. They are better off going full rebuild in the draft.

Yeah, my opinion is unless Brees is willing to take a significant home town discount than the Saints should get out of all their bad contracts next year and completely tank. Cut Brees (or trade him if possible) and take the $10 million cap hit, cut Jairus Byrd and take the $11.4 million cap hit, cut Jahri Evans and take the $7.1 million cap hit, and cut Brandon Browner and take the $5.35 million cap hit. That would put the Saints dead money at nearly $50 million because they've also got $12.1 million in dead money on their 2016 cap from cutting Junior Galette, but it would give them a clean slate in 2017 with close to $100 million in cap space. It would also give them a chance to give this year's third round pick Garrett Grayson an extended look at QB to see whether he could be the future at the position.

Winner of eagles/giants has to go to seattle next yr.
Loser has to play rams in london.

Teams hate that london trip but still seems the better of the 2.

As expected, Mario Williams is going to be released this offseason by us. He has a huge cap hit under his current deal, and he hasn't exactly been a good team guy this year.

I'm not sure if that figure is entirely accurate. I thought I had read somewhere Philly would be on the hook for $4mil next season if they moved Murray.
Clearly they won't do that as I'm sure Murray will be sitting next to Lurie and Howie as they look to him to get approval on the next head coach.

Edit: here was the article. http://mobile.philly.com/beta?wss=/p...s&id=363067461

Next to impossible, but if they were to trade DeMarco it would be a $4mil hit. Unless that writer had his facts wrong?

Wrong Demarcos contract for next year renders him uncuttable. By cutting him before next season, they would lose 5 million in cap space. In 2017, they would save 4 million from the cap by cutting him, but he would still give you 5 million in dead space

It always appears to me that Jerry has no problem spending on coaches, and since these numbers wouldn't count against the cap I think he'd be willing.

I agree that the personnel control would be an issue, but I don't think $ would be.
