It's been heating up, and I'd say it's serious enough that if it is proven to be true, Jimmy Cheek (Chancellor), Dave Hart (Athletic Director), and B*tch Jones (Head Coach) are going to get sh*t canned... and will probably never get another job again, rightfully so.

If it's true, they'd deserve prison time for obstruction of justice, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

Thanks for the link. I hope for your sake, nothing becomes of that. But there certainly seems to be some smoke.

Maybe at some point a legit publication will do a thorough investigation with both sides of the story represented, but this wasn't the piece and Shaun King definitely isn't the type of writer to write such a piece (seriously, research the guy, he's got quite the background).
The worst part of it is that I can't tell if the defense articles are written from the point of view of a Manning-worshipper or simply stating facts, either.

Numerous articles say that she changed her story between the initial report and the lawsuit. Is this fact or just revisionist history?

It really does irritate me that people are using the fact that parts of the lawsuit were Redacted as being more reason to distrust Manning. Redactions frequently occur because people are piling on with something totally not true.

On a side note I'm hoping the Bills are dumb and don't tag Cordy Glenn. We could really, really use him. Would save us from being stupid and taking Tunsil #1.

We might tag him as a precaution, but I'm expecting a long term deal will be struck. He wants to stay, and we want to keep him for obvious reasons.

I didn't realize the Panthers/Broncos would be facing each other this season... Turns out it would be the Broncos' turn to host, so I think you can pretty much bank on this being the matchup.

Only other options would be Pats and Steelers... It's gotta be Panthers though. It's very rare that Super Bowl opponents play each other the following season... The NFL will take advantage of this.

After reading more into this Peyton stuff, it's pretty clear that Shaun King is not a credible source...

And Peyton's accuser changed her story, which King conveniently omitted from his sloppy investigative article.

King acted as if he was breaking ground by reporting this. He acted as if it was swept under the rug. It wasn't. I was familiar with it living in Tennessee.

King did a horrible job searching for former articles on this. He was motivated to write this article for the wrong reasons, and now he has only exposed himself as an idiot. He will never be taken seriously again, and this has tremendously damaged NY Daily News' credibility.

The problem is ESPN is reporting it as if King's column is 100% true and accurate and every word in her version of the story has been completely and totally validated.

I think ESPN is afraid to point out the potential inconsistencies, but I also think this means that King will be taken seriously just fine. Why should people ignore him when ESPN is acting like he's legit?

This King guy isn't the source of anything, he just dug up stuff and wrote a biased article. Wait till more credible people start investigating.

Full disclosure - I regularly post over on Dkos, the left-wing blog Shaun King is a regular contributor on. I'll just say even among the left he's a controversial figure and a lot of people, myself included, find him intolerable. The guy is not a real journalist and I don't get why so many real sports news outlets took his extremely biased article on 20 year old Manning allegations and ran with it. It's still not even known whether or not King is even African-American as he repeatedly claims.

The NFL announced the Colts and Packers will play in this year's Hall of Fame game. It was widely expected that the Packers would be in the game since Brett Favre is being inducted and Packers fans will travel to see that, and with both Marvin Harrison and Tony Dungy getting inducted the Colts make sense as well.

Must be nice. Most of of wish we could suck at our jobs and still make $34 million a year.

If you have a problem with Roger Goodell making more money than any football player, your problem’s not with the NFL specifically, but with executive bonus culture, and the notion that it seemingly isn’t tied to the company’s success. In which case Goodell and the owners will happily point to the fact that the league is printing money, so what’s eight figures between friends?

In tax documents filed today, the NFL reported its executives’ compensation for the 12-month period ending March 31, 2015. and Roger Goodell tops them all with $34.1 million (General counsel Jeff Pash was second with $7.5M). Via ESPN, here’s how that shakes down:

Goodell had a $3.5 million base salary, but also received a bonus of $26.5 million, a figure that was determined in 2013. He also received $3.7 million in pension and other deferred benefits as well as $273,000 in “other reportable compensation.”

That’s in line with previous years; Goodell made $35 million for 2013 and $44.2 million for 2012, which included about $9 million in deferred money from previous years.

Like he is responsible for that. Changing viewer habits and fantasy sports is why the NFL has grown. Crappy stadium situations and owners willing to relocate is why LA has a team again. The guy is a terrible commissioner and has only held onto the job because he's been a good punching bag for the owners.

Generally the financial people behind the scenes nobody ever hears about are the people responsible the such successes with companies. Hoe exactly is "getting a team back in LA" some monumental success when it was ridiculously easy to pull off with several teams begging to move there? Never mind that every time LA has had NFL teams in the past it's been a failure. A trained monkey could lead the NFL to massive profits.

Someone with a lower IQ than a trained monkey has made the Cowboys the most financially successful team in the NFL despite 3 play-off wins since 1996 and none past the wild card round.
