Just playing devil's advocate here... I smoke time to time (like 2-3 times a year), and I have no issue with it whatsoever.

But it wouldn't be fair at all for the NFL to allow the players to smoke while all other employees would not be allowed to.

At the end of the day, if you want to play in the NFL and smoke pot, know the times of year that tests are given and go clean for a while. It's not that hard. I'm pretty sure it's literally once or twice a year. And the players know about the tests ahead of time. That's my understanding. Derrick Mason co-hosts a local radio show here and he's mentioned this.

Or you can be happy with millions of dollars and only smoke a few times a year, which will never show up on a test if your body fat % is low enough, which it would be unless you're a lineman.
I think it's stupid that any employee cares if you smoke or drink safely outside of work. If you show up to work high or drunk, that's different. But on the weekends? None of their business.

I'm sort of in the dilemma a lot of NFL players are in. I've been on prescribed pain medication for about 2 years for chronic back pain. Not a really high dose but enough that I'm dependent on it.

Just as ridiculous is the fact that these days prescription pain meds are being demonized by politicians and the public at large. So I literally can't tell anyone other than close family members about getting prescription pain meds for fear of being labeled an "addict" yet alternatives like pot are illegal.

Honestly I find it shocking that most Americans think employers should even be allowed to drug test employees. I always thought employer testing of employees was a massive invasion of privacy and frankly anti-American.

I see both sides of the argument. I truly do, but it's hard for me to fathom throwing away a life filled with football for smoking some pot.

Oh I agree completely. I refuse to do any pot even though it would be beneficial to me physically simply because of the very slim chance my employer would ever drug test me. And I make a fraction of what these NFL guys make. I don't like the rules/laws but I realize they have t be observed to avoid negative consequences. I can't imagine risking what they're risking for such a thing.

Waco police on Wednesday arrested former Baylor University football player Shawn Oakman on charges he sexually assaulted a fellow student after leaving a Waco nightclub with her early Sunday morning.
Oakman is a physical freak who was projected to go as high as the third round in the draft. It seems likely now that Oakman will go undrafted.

What other company employs people that basically participate in the physical equivalent of a car crash every week? I get that it's a privilege to play in the league, but still...these guys bust their asses.

NFL tweeted the sched is complete - just needs final approval.

Still wont be "officially" released until next wk although the longer they wait the greater chance of leaks.

edit:
rumor is tomorrow night - as mentioned i think theyre afraid of leaks now.

edit:
yep 8:00pm tomorrow.

I have no issue if they smoke pot. I really don't.

Just saying if the NFL allows players to use it, they'll have to allow all their employees to use it too.

Pats released Dominique Easley today...

Would really like to see the Titans claim him. We have nothing to lose. Might as well claim just everybody possible since we are #1 on the waiver wire. Especially a guy as talented as Easley, even if he did have injury issues.

It sounds like there was more to the release than just injury issues. There's been reports that it was off-field issues that led to the release, although nothing has really been cited other than a lawsuit that's been filed against Easley for his dog biting a person. Regardless, for the Patriots to cut him now when his 2016 salary is guaranteed and the release causes his cap number to rise shows they were very unhappy with him.

When the news first broke I thought maybe there was a drug suspension looming, but that doesn't appear to be the case. He certainly seemed to ruffle some feathers in the New England locker room.

Huge draft trade:

Quote:
The Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams agreed to terms on a trade that would see Tennessee trade the number one overall pick, along with their fourth round (113 overall) and sixth round (177 overall) picks this year to the Rams, in exchange for the Rams first round pick (15), two second round (43 and 45) selections and third round (76) pick in 2016; along with the Rams first round pick and third round picks in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Quite the haul for the Titans considering this draft doesn't have any can't miss QB.

Rams trade first rounders in 2016&2017, 2 2016 2nd rounders and 2016 3rd rounder for the Titans #1 pick, 4th rounder and 6th rounder.

WOW, the Rams gave up a TON...that's a sure fire way to tank your team in no time! How Fisher still has a job is beyond me.

Just when you think Jerry Jones is the worst GM in football, the Rams do this. This is almost as bad as the Herschel Walker trade 20+ years ago.

Rams gave up a TON for a QB who isn't a can't pass up in this year's draft, for Rams, I hope it's worth it.

The Rams had to do something, though. They can't head to LA with Case Keenum as their starter.

Really not liking this for the Rams. A lot to give up. Who are Goff/Wentz even gonna throw to?
