No one is forcing these guys to play in the NFL. If they want the luxury of playing football, they have to follow the rules. Besides, the NFL's drug policy is pretty tame. They get chance after chance. If I get caught with marijuana in my system a single time, I lose my job. No fines or suspensions, I am terminated. It's a pretty simple decision to make, I don't smoke pot.

Yeah, it's an open secret that the testing system is a joke. There are very specific guidelines for when a player can be tested, which excludes a good chunk of the year. I believe one player referred to it as a stupidity test.

As others have said, it's the total lack of judgement people exhibit when using weed...case in point: letting yourself get filmed.
Raw talent and athleticism will get you in the door. Having a good head on your shoulders keeps you in the room.

Every year the NFL chews up and spits out the guys that just can't cut it. Sure the more talent you possess the more chances you'll get.
I wish folks would forget about legality. If your employer forbids it, that's the end of the story.
If I'm having open heart sugury or flying in an airplane, I sure as hell don't want the doctor or pilot that had been smoking weed, in ANY quantity, versus the doctor or pilot that did not. Assuming both are equally qualified.
Liquor is legal, doesn't mean you can show up to work tipsy!

Absolutely, they essentially tell you when you're gonna be tested so for guys to fail one or, God forbid multiple tests? They're morons (see also Josh Gordon).

His people really should have used some sort of excuse last night. There was no excuse for sending him to the wolves at that bizarre press conference where he didn't know what to say and accidentally spilled the beans about the text messages with his coach. Keep in mind that Josh Gordon didn't fail his drug tests due to being positive for weed. The second test he failed was due to him having alcohol in his system, not weed. His third fail test was due to a diluted sample testing positive (which doesn't mean he had weed in his system) despite the other 60 samples not coming up positive before and after that sample was taken. So, Gordon may have actual been staying away from using weed.
