Tommie Smith (the raised fist at the '68 Olympics) will light the Al Davis torch for MNF in Mexico.
Quote:
Yes, in the same city where Smith was vilified for his actions 48 years ago, he will honor a football trailblazer whose team was at the forefront of many social issues, including diversity in the workplace.

"This is a very, very historic moment for me," Smith told ESPN.com. "To do it for the Raiders -- I have a lot of respect for the things that they do. The Raiders have always been out in front in terms of change. They were always called a renegade team. But look what the renegade team brought to light."

Indeed, Tom Flores was the first Latino head coach to win a Super Bowl when he won Super Bowl XV with the Raiders. The team hired the first African-American coach in the modern NFL in Art Shell, as well as the first female CEO in Amy Trask.

Cuz I'd rather they not obtain yet another QB retread in the twilight of his career. Unfortunately, the NYJ are clearly one of the worst franchises in the NFL when it comes to draft and developing talent at the QB position and it's downright maddening.

Irvin is a top 5 wideout without question and nuthin you can say or show will change that. I form my own opinions. As for Emmitt, Emmitt was a do it all back and could catch just fine. He wasnt in a pass happy offense like Faulk so he didnt have as many reception but he could catch unlike Barry who was just an explosive back but lacked many qualities of most running backs. And you talk about me and my "ifs" what about your line "if Barry played longer he wouldve broke the records." Check my sig homie. Emmit top 3 back all time. Deal wit it. This dude goes by only numbers yet when it comes to Emmitt who has the greatest numbers, but he aint top 3 lmao!! Your so consistent lol. Got Em!!

Take care of my lightwork for me. Got Em!!
Only a homer would actually believe Michael Irvin is top 5. I'll put you at the top of that list. Sure you form your own opinions no matter how misguided they may be . Barry's per average numbers are better than Emmitt. "Deal with it." Emmitt hung around until the point of professional collapse. It was sad to see.

Fair enough. I feel Romo has a good 3-4 years left of good ball so if I could get him on that team I would take that running. Got Em!!

That's presuming he remains injury-free during those 3-4 years which is something he's struggled with all throughout his career. Oh yeah and now he's what, 37 years old? Keep Em!!

We need Namath to die so the QB curse will be broken.

That QB the Jets fans don't want because he's too old and brittle owns every single Cowboys passing record and I'm pretty sure it's not even close. Much better TD to INTO ratio than HOFers Aikman and Staubach, too.

The all-out bromance for Romo in this thread is legit outta control...I seriously don't get it.

I don't like the guy nor do I want him on the NYJ. End of story.

78-49 record as a starter, 66% completion career, 34,000 passing yards, 247 TDs, 117 INTs. Dude had an insane career when you consider how many bums he had at WR, how bad most of his offensive lines were and that we have almost never given him anything resembling even an average defense.

I wouldn't call it a "bromance." It's just rare to see a QB of his calibur on the open market. We're talking about a guy whose last two seasons resulted in a combined 65 TD's, 19 Int's and a QB rating well over 100. The only time I can recall a QB at his level being available in the last 5 years or so was Peyton Manning after the Colts dumped him for Luck. Romo could easily have a few more 30+ TD, 3,500 yard plus, 100+ QB rating seasons if he stays healthy. And there's little reason to think he won't be fine. He's played in 13+ games in 9 of his 11 seasons as a starter.

Because he probably has at least 2-3 good years left in him and has been very healthy throughout his career. He's only missed 15 games in his 10 seasons as a starter prior to this one.
