I remember the same things said about Peyton Manning. He was supposed to be "done" as an effective QB. And yet he rebounded from a far uglier injury than Romo to give Denver 3 excellent seasons followed by a Super Bowl win. And your answer is many teams will try to sign him. Even if he comes back at only 75% of the player he was he'd still be better than 2/3rds of the NFL starting QB's.

I'm sure he still wants to compete, but dealing with consecutive back injuries can have its toll. He's not getting any younger so if he goes some where then it has to be a place that has a good O-line. I don't think he would be a good fit for the Jets, they need some new blood. Someone stated earlier Arizona or Denver, those could be good options for him. I'd like to see him retire a Cowboy but he got to do what he got to do.

He's worth the risk for any team that doesn't already have a franchise QB. What do they have to lose?

1st round draft pick because that's what Dallas is gonna want for him. They only save 5 million by cutting him so that won't happen it's gonna Be a first for him. Denver and Arizona will want him the most.

The only time I can recall a QB at his level being available in the last 5 years or so was Peyton Manning after the Colts dumped him for Luck. Romo could easily have a few more 30+ TD, 3,500 yard plus, 100+ QB rating seasons if he stays healthy. And there's little reason to think he won't be fine. He's played in 13+ games in 9 of his 11 seasons as a starter.
With all due respect, I don't understand why some folks in this thread constantly spit out stats like this as if they're gonna change my mind.

I could see Cleveland or Miami, jags (teams with a major qb problem) signing romo but with the success that dak and wentz and other younger qb have shown most teams will be looking to add a young qb to the roster.

None of the teams you mention are a QB away from contending, so I disagree.

Of those three teams, you *could* make a case for Jacksonville. We know they have great receivers. Not sure how the oline is. Defense is coming up solid for them. They need a RB, though.

How much longer do they give Bortles? He still seems so young but yeah he's not a positive part of that team. Romo could help for sure.

This could be Bortles last season as a starter. Once the entire coaching staff is gone and replaced in January. The team will start rebuilding again. Bortles has significantly declined as this was supposed to be the year we see improved passing stats. He's in his 3rd year, and can't throw a spiral to save his life. He's getting worse every week. He has the throwing mechanics of a Byron Leftwich, and the lack of confidence of a Gabbert. Offensive line can't block or protect, and open up holes for our backs. Our former 1st rounder Luke Joeckel is a bust. Team reverted back to the team 3-4 years ago. Our defensive players that we selected in Fowler has grown concern for the team because of all his late hits the past several weeks, and then I still question Ramsey's maturity on the field. Lots of questions to be answered after this season for the Jags.

The 2014-2015 Jaguars are a better team than this year's overhyped team. Sure they only won 5 games last season, but they kept lots of games closer and they actually put points on the board. I can type a lot of things that's wrong with this franchise, but no one has time to for that.

I do like to see Tom Coughlin make a return to Jacksonville since he still has ties with this city.

I support my team win or lose, but I have a feeling this organization is going to go through a full rebuild during the off season.

Romo would definitely help quite a few teams. I imagine quite a few people in this thread disagreeing. Many of them were saying Stafford shouldn't be a starting QB in the NFL and he is in the MVP discussion this year. Most of the people here only have 2 categories they put QBs in and that is "Elite" or "Terrible". They tend to throw everyone into one or the other with no understanding of middle ground.

Too bad for the Jags. Coming into the season they looked like a team finally ready to make the leap.

At least the Raiders are getting it done.

I'd say you're oversimplifying, but I'll bite. Count me as one of those that thought Stafford was/is an average NFL QB. Good enough to start (especially given the current crop of QBs), but nothing to get excited over. If anything, I'd say that the addition of Cooter as his OC has been his been his biggest help...he's made more strides in the past 2 seasons than he's had in what, ever in the NFL? The light bulb finally went on in a guy that I felt was never the brightest light on the tree.

Agreed. OAK has been the sexy pick for the past few seasons, but at least they're getting it done this year.

This - all of it, I agree with. - From a Lions fan. He's having a solid year, but lets remember that Brady missed 4 games, Rodgers is having an off year, etc. Stafford is still Stafford.

Come on man. I'm one of the few actual Jags fans around here and I don't buy for a minute that the Jags would contend for a playoff spot yet alone a championship even with Romo. They'd probably go from being a 3-5 win team to a 6-8 win team with Romo at QB. The Jags have some promising young pieces but they're far from developing into anything, even with a really good QB.

On the plus side though is that they have a weak division.

Well the good news is that we have young, talented pieces on the roster, and are going to have a high draft pick this year. Hopefully some good coaches are out there looking at this roster and knowing they can be the one to get this team to reach it's potential. The only bad thing is that most of the QB's being considered for the first round have pretty serious questions themselves, so I am not even sure if Bortles is gone this year or not.

Yeah, but who do they replace Bortles with? I know it's becoming obvious he's a bust but you can't just bench him if nobody is as good or better is available. Kizer, Trubinsky or Watson should be around when the Jaguars pick in the draft but even if they land one I'm not sure the pick would be ready to start on day 1 in the NFL. It's kind of depressing knowing how bad the team has whiffed on QB's, blowing high picks on Gabbert and Bortles. I really can't believe Carr ended up the top QB of that class and not Bortles. I felt confident Bortles would at least be a solid long term started for Jacksonville And Carr would be the bust.
