I don't consider that caving, I consider that as a deal that is too good to turn down. Palmer isn't worth a first round pick much less two (possibly). I'm sure Brown hates giving in to Palmer but that was highway robbery for a player with no future in Cincinnati.

Yea 2 First rounders for a mediocre QB is astonishing. But yeah for the future of his franchise he needed those picks, now if hes smart he could turn those 1st rounders into about 2-3 additional picks, and totally revamp Cincy.

I Doubt it, our team is pretty decent as it is, i say we use our 1st rounder next year on a Young Lb or Good CB/Safety Hybrid Crocker is getting Old.

Unless is Reggie Sands and or Taylor Mays Jumps off the map.

I'm pretty sure our picks will go towards helpind andy on the line or with another good talented WR.

The Raiders are likely going to need to release someone or restructure a contract to get under the salary cap. Per ProFootballTalk.com Palmers' prorated salary is $7.44 million, and as of October 4 the Raiders were $6.1 million under the cap.

Tania Ganguli of the Florida Times-Union reports the Jaguars have agreed to terms with WR Mike Sims-Walker.
Sims-Walker is flying into Jacksonville to sign Tuesday afternoon. The Jaguars are desperate enough at the position to bring back a player that exasperated the coaching staff last season and was summarily dismissed by the Rams after six weeks. Sims-Walker will likely replace Jason Hill opposite Mike Thomas in a couple of weeks, but his recent history suggests tease more than effective receiver. With Blaine Gabbert at QB, Sims-Walker is not worthy of a waiver pickup.

I just heard on the radio that the Carson Palmer trade still isn't done because the Raiders are struggling to find a way to get under the cap. It will get done but they are cutting it close.

Also, for the Bengals to get a first round pick in 2013 the Raiders must win a playoff game this season. If they don't win a playoff game this season then the Bengals get the Raiders 2013 second round pick.

According to NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora, coach Leslie Frazier has notified Christian Ponder that he'll be starting over Donovan McNabb this week.
A scattershot McNabb averaged just 171 yards per game at just 6.6 yards per attempt in a 1-5 start. With any chance at the playoffs dashed, the only sensible move was to play the first-round pick. Though Ponder was shaky in preseason action, he showed positive signs in relief of McNabb Sunday night. There's enough talent on this offense to give Ponder a shot at QB2 value in a best-case scenario. His eight rushes for 61 yards in one half of the preseason finale suggest Ponder will add value on the ground. McNabb was bad enough that the move can be viewed as good news for the entire offense.

Mike Brown surrounded him with crybabies and jailbirds. Two of those crybabies were TO and Ochocinco. Playing with either of them would make you crazy but both at the same sends you to the loonie bin.

Regarding Sims-Walker returning to Jacksonville. I think he'll be the same. Play every other down, or injured every other game.

He'll show signs and flashes he can be great WR, but that's not enough to turn heads in this league.

My thoughts on the trade, did we give up too much? Of course we did

Did we have another options, NO, Our season goes down the toilet with Boller at the helm, Prior is no where close to being ready, and don’t expect him to play for another year or two. Real Question is Palmer game ready?? Hes an automatic upgrade over Campbell, (who will be missed) But he’s got a better arm & accurate to boot, but has little to no mobility which really scares me, but with our O-line, that shouldn’t matter.

Our first round pick history has been terrible the past few years anyways, so I’m ok with parting with those picks, we got Seymour for our first rounder last year, and we know how that worked out, pretty damn good compared to who the Pats got with that first round pick, someone we haven’t even heard of (yet) … Who would we have gotten at with those draft picks anyways, our team is loaded with talent and we really only need to address our defense backfield and LB’s, which we can do via free agency…

Remember, in Cincy, Palmer had nothing but two diva wideouts, no o-line or running game. Enter Oakland, He has one of the best Offensive lines in the NFL who’s given up a league low 5 sacks through 6 games, that’s right, Campbell has only been sacked 5 times in 6 games!!! I bet you didn’t know that… Palmer will have one of the best running games in the NFL to back him up, who can take pressure off of him by making teams pay attention to the run instead of the pass and (Vice Versa) and an abundance of young talent at the WR position. Bottom line is he has TONS of weapons at his disposal, something he didn’t have in Cincy, I think he will do great here! But only time will tell, either way I’m happier with our current qb situation than I have ever been.

See you guys in the playoffs… Go Raiders!!!

The Eagles traded running back Ronnie Brown to the Lions for running back Jerome Harrison and a 2013 7th round pick.

I have to agree. I'm sorry but a 31 year old QB isn't worth potentially two 1st rounders. The more things change the more they stay exactly the same in Oakland.

Obviously the Bengals won this trade and its not even close, but if it means success for the Raiders, it was worth it, only time will tell...

Who knows. Given the Raiders recent draft history they probably would have blown those 1st round picks anyway.

Which is one of the points i made earlier, our most recent draft success came from rounds 2-6... Not that we have next year anyways

One thing i'd like to mention about Raiders not having any picks next year... Oakland is expecting to get compensatory picks after losing Nnamdi Asomugha, Zach Miller, Robert Gallery, Thomas Howard and Bruce Gradkowski in free agency...

We will get a third for Nnamdi, probably a fourth for Miller & Gallery, and a few lower round picks as well...
