In an under the radar hiring move, the NYJ signed HoFer Kevin Greene as their LB coach.

Coach Andy Reid reiterated that he is committed to Alex Smith as the Chiefs' starting quarterback for 2017.
Smith's 2016 season was his worst in Kansas City, and his performance in the Chiefs' Divisional Round loss to Pittsburgh was one of his worst of the year. Still, the Chiefs aren't considering turning the page. At least not yet. "Alex is our quarterback — there’s no question about that or anything else," Reid said at Pro Bowl weekend. "I surely didn’t want to insinuate that (was not the case) at all." Smith has talent limitations that aren't going away, and will always prevent him from being more than a glorified game manager. Owed $17 million in 2018, Smith is entering a make-or-break year in 2017.

Went yesterday to the Discovery Green area in downtown Houston where most of the Super Bowl events for fans are going on and had a good time. So many things to do. Wanted to go yesterday before it becomes too crowded next weekend.
Went during the day but wish I had gone a bit later so I could have seen the fireworks and a very cool water and light show. http://www.fox26houston.com/news/232508911-story

You don't know what your talking about. What about the 90's? Playoffs every year but two, 5 championship games and a Super Bowl win. They didn't get stupid until a few years later when Jed took over.

Singletary was there longer. You think Tomsula had any say when he was HC? Trent Baalke called the shots over both these guys...thankfully they fired his ass. Terrible GM.

*Edit: Chip Kelly had no "pull" either.

They don't need to sell the team, just take it back from Jed. They were fine before he took over.

As far as the Lynch hiring, I'm pretty sure Shanahan knew about it in some capacity. Lynch has a history with his father, so maybe that's the approach they are taking. Now that Baalke is gone, I'm betting Shanahan will have a lot of input on the personnel side (drafting, free agency, etc.), things Kelly and Tomsula (and to some extent Harbaugh) never had while Trent was there.

So was Matt Millen. He was arguably the worst GM of all-time.

Rod Marinelli deserves some of the credit for that historic accomplishment as well.

Some, you are being nice to RM. They both deserve 50-50 for that epic failure.

0 play-off wins past the wild card round in 22 years says I'm a sad panda but pretty much used to it at this point.

They're already giving virtually unprecedented six-year deals to both Shanahan and Lynch so it's clear they were having trouble convincing quality candidates to take the job after firing coaches after one season two years in a row.
Shanahan won't back out, his contract should be about 40 million guaranteed. 40 MILLION Even if its the worst job ever 40 million is hard to say no to. Plus it could be more.

I wasn't implying he'd back out, just that they wouldn't go about hiring a general manager without discussing it with Shanahan before he's signed his contract. I've also read it will be a $30 million contract, which is still $5 million per year for a first time head coach.

He'll still be a better head coach than Garrett is, who's making similar pay. Record won't reflect it (probably) but he'll be better.
