Do they have the cap room? The Texans have $19 million tied up with Osweiler in 2017. Romo is scheduled to make almost $25 mill.

Romo's cap number is almost $25 million but his salary is $14 million, and any team that traded for Romo would only be responsible for his salary. The remaining cap money is for salary/bonuses Dallas previously paid Romo and that money would hit the Cowboys cap. Romo's cap number to the Cowboys would be almost $20 million if he's traded, but if he's cut with a post-June 1 designation his cap hit to the Cowboys would be $10.7 million in 2017 and $8.9 million in 2018. With the Cowboys projected to be over $11 million over the cap and with no huge salaries they can cut that difference could be big enough for the Cowboys to cut him rather than trade him.
