They have tons to cap space (the most in the NFL) to absorb his contract, gain the 2nd round pick from the Texans, and then trade or cut Osweiler.

It sounds more like paying cash for the 2nd round pick than anything else.

Rumor already has it the Browns are going to try to trade Osweiler - I hope so. It sounds like the Browns just wanted the 2nd round pick, and they had the cap space to absorb the hit that comes with throwing Osweiler (and his contract) into the trade for the pick.

Browns gotta spend cap money so this isn't a bad deal for them. They take on a crap contract for one year and get a 2nd round pick. Better than overspending on a bum and getting locked into a multi year deal.
