It is official Soct McCloughan fired.
I really want to hear from McCloughan on this. I assume if we don't hear from that might be an admission of guilt. Guess I'm hoping he didn't relapse and this is Washington spinning themselves out of messy situation, but that seems pretty far fetched now.
If it's all true, I sure hope Scot finds the help he needs!

I know, you win as a team and lose as a team. Cleveland was very bad at every aspect of the game last season.

I will too! I've seen too many good people, family & friends, go down this road...the chance for a happy ending always seems fleeting.
In Scot's case I hope he finds the support he needs, and goes back to working from home doing talent evaluation. He seems to have such a good eye for talent, it would be a shame to see it go to waste.

Redskins fired GM Scot McCloughan.
It is a move that has been brewing for months but ultimately came to a head when McCloughan was conspicuously absent from the Combine. Team President Bruce Allen laughably tried to explain the absence away, but reporting in the ensuing days has painted a picture of an organization which is deeply dysfunctional. The Redskins have leaked McCloughan, who has a history of alcoholism, has relapsed, and an "anonymous source" told the Washington Post that relapse is to blame for his firing. If Washington railroaded McCloughan, and that's a huge if no matter how dysfunctional they seem, he will be in line for the most epic lawsuit! Let's say he was drinking on the job. Just leaking this info to Cooley to blab on the Snyder owned radio station has to cross some moral ethics code.
Furthermore, if Washington did construct this smear campaign why isn't McCloughan talking?
Unless he signed some form of non-disclosure agreement, to be awarded the final two years left on his contract?
I have a hunch this situation is far from over.

There are no indications this has anything to do with alcohol. All reports are this is Allen making a power play. He hates McCloughan, probably because McCloughan is more competent than he is and wants a puppet in the GM role. Kind of sad really considering even a drunken McCloughan would still be a far smarter football guy than Bruce Allen ever will be.

Edit - Ok, some stories are saying alcohol, some saying otherwise. I have no idea what to make of this. I can't tell if he relapsed or the Skins just smeared him and shoved him out the door.
