The Supreme Court ruled that an Asian had the right to trademark a derogatory term directed at Asians. That has little to do with Snyder and the Redskins' rights. I sure wouldn't call it settled by any means. |

No, this case has everything to do with Snyder and the Redskins rights. They ruled that a law that bans trademarks on disparaging terms infringes on free speech and is unconstitutional. This means it's almost certain the Redskins will be able to keep the trademark to their team name, which had been deemed offensive by the trademark office in 2014. If the Supreme Court had upheld the law the Redskins could have lost the trademark on their team name and the protections that go along with it.

Ummm that's exactly what it means lol. It's pretty settled as it's the law of the land now and the trademark office has no legal leg to stand on to deny the Redskins that trademark. It's over. Snyder won.

It's not about how good a player is, it's about leverage. Stafford is entering the final year of his deal and if the Lions franchise him after the season he'd be due $26.4 million in 2018. The Lions surely wouldn't want to cap number that high. Stafford also has leverage because unlike Carr he's already filthy rich. While Carr has made a little over $4 million in his career Stafford has made over $100 million so he's already set for life and he can afford to play out his current deal if he's not happy with the Lions offer.

Odd timing for this to happen after the draft and with the success the Chiefs have had making the playoffs in 3 of Dorsey's 4 seasons:
Quote:
Edit: Adam Schefter says it wasn't a mutual decision and Dorsey was fired. There has to be more to this story because the timing makes no sense. Last edited by fatediesel; 06-22-2017 at 09:18 PM. |
