I'm sure everyone touched by the horror that is CTE really appreciate that comment.
Was it worded oddly, yes. Was there an underlying commentary about his passion and love of football, yes. He's a rookie in one of, if not the biggest market in the country, he'll learn to consider his words more carefully next time.

I get why some folks questioned the comments but I'll take the underlying sentiment any day...that type of passion you can't teach.

I'm all for passion, but the delivery was a flop. Hopefully he learns from is miscue going forward, and keeps a level head to go with what appears to be very good football skills.

I don't get your line of thinking here. He gave an honest answer. CTE is a concern to players across the league, but most players also have a real passion for this beautiful game.

Line of thinking? People can be passionate about a billion things, doesn't mean they sometimes place their foot in their mouth while expressing said passion.
Which, IMO, he definitely did. Also in the opinion of the ex-wife of a deceased CTE victim:

Big deal, he's a kid a few days into training camp and answered a question in an awkward way. The only reason why folks are making a big deal about it is cuz of CTE and the attention that is has received. If folks wanna get fired up about something, they should look up what Baddell replied with to a question that a fan asked about player health/safety during that very same QA session. THAT should be what folks are keying on.

EDIT: And here it is...

I don't believe he put his foot in his mouth at all. He answered a question about the risk of playing football. He wasn't disrespecting to anyone who has the disease. He simply stated that his love of the game outweighs the risks associated with it. There are many players across the league that think the glory on the field outweighs the threat of CTE. There's nothing wrong with that. Heck, I think it's quite admirable. He didn't say or do anything wrong.

I agree. Yeah, the delivery might have seemed slightly awkward to some but I think most folks understood what he was getting at, hence the NYJ fans in attendance cheering/clapping.

Right or wrong is matter of opinion. Clearly in the opinion of you two it was fine, not in mine. He could professed his passion in many other ways.
He's a rookie and was baited like a rookie by a question looking for a juicy response. He took the bait hook-line-sinker. Thusly it's being talked about.
Do I think less of the guy? Not really. But, karma in this situation, would be quite bad indeed. Maybe he will get his wish?
Just think it was a poor taste answer, as did many others.

They can hate Goodell, but in the end the NFLPA is going to cave and the league knows it. With how short NFL careers are and the poor financial planning most players have the prospect of missing games is going to cause the players to eventually agree to a deal. The owners can afford a work stoppage and are going to think about what's best for their long-term future, while the players know that any money lost via missed games is likely money they'll never get back.

Find me someone (outside of maybe ownership) who isn't sick of that joker.
